This Chapter Is Really Just Filler

"Wow, these are incredible, Kai." Pixal praised.

"You drew these yourself?" She asked in amazement.

Kai nodded shyly.

Over the past week he had gotten pretty friendly with Pixal. Turns out they liked a lot of the same books and they both enjoyed sitting in the gardens.

Kai had decided to show Pixal some of his drawings.

He didn't draw a lot. The only things he drew were scenes from books. But, he had been drawing for a long time, so he had gotten pretty good at it.

"These are really incredible. How long have you been drawing?" Pixal asked.

"Um... Well, basically since I started reading books without pictures, soooo... Since I was about seven... So almost 14 years."

"That's quite a while."

Pixal handed the drawings back to Kai.

"I should be going. Zane and I are leaving tomorrow, so I should get to packing."

They waved to each other as Pixal walked away.

Kai was lost on what to do now.

He had gotten so used to having the two blondes around, it would be weird having them gone.

He decided he might just go back to the room.

He had figured out how to get to and from his room and the gardens awhile ago so the walk was easy, but still long.

He hadn't really ever made this walk alone. Usually he was accompanied by Cole, Skyler or more recently Pixal.

But today he was just left to his thoughts.

He didn't used to like that. Being left to his thoughts.

He always ended up thinking about marriage and the eventual pregnancy he would have to have, and the sense of impending doom that came with those thoughts.

But something changed.

He didn't mind those thoughts quite so much anymore.

Not that he found them pleasant, but... He didn't find them unpleasant either.

He isn't quite sure what happened, what changed.

Maybe it's just because he was scared of being stuck in a loveless marriage. But that wouldn't really make sense since it's not like he and Cole love each other, right?

He stopped partway up the stairs.

If he was scared of being stuck in a loveless marriage, why wouldn't he have a problem marrying Cole? That doesn't make sense.

He looked out the window next to the stairs.

This was honestly just so... Weird.

Not in a million years would he have imagined himself here.

He was getting married to someone he didn't love in a few months. (A/n you have no idea how much that hurt to write)

If this isn't what he wants, why isn't he upset?

If he doesn't want to have children with someone he doesn't love, why isn't he upset?

He shook his head to get rid of those thoughts and continued the trek up the stairs.

Cole's family had purchased a whole bunch of new books and Kai wanted to read them.

There was no reason to be thinking about the inevitable marriage.
