Kili's POV
~months later~
Mother's here! The scariest woman on Middle Earth is here! I waited with everyone to greet those who've arrived. Gloin's wife and son, Gimli, have come also. Pema held Vili, standing next to Fili, and Lyra stood next to me. Thorin stood stoically with Balin and Dwalin and the rest of the company stood quietly. Frerin was in the back. The gates opened and we held our breaths.

The two dwarrowdams with the tween dwarf entered.
"Thorin!" Mother embraced him.
"Mother!" Fili and I cried happily and hugged her tightly.
"My boys!" She laughed as we kissed her cheeks. Balin and Dwalin smiled, bowing. Then she looked around.
"Still kinda looks the same." Mother teared up.
"We are home, sister."
"We're missing a Durin, though." She sighed.
"Actually..." I smirked, looking to Fili.
"We're not." Fili finished and we stepped aside, revealing our other uncle.
"Frerin..." Mother smiled, teary eyed and hugged him.

I stood next to Lyra, rubbing her back. Mother turned to Fili.
"Where is my first future daughter-in-law and grandchild?"
"Right here, m'lady." Pema smiled, bouncing Vili.
"Looks just like Fili with fiery hair." She smiled, caressing the little ones cheek."I have heard a lot about you and the child, dear Pema, but not about..." She turned to Lyra,"You..."
"My lady." Lyra bowed her head and curtsied.
"Lyra. You belong to my youngest?"
"Yes, ma'am." Lyra replied politely, not really intimidated by mother. Even Dwalin was intimidated by her!
"You're very pretty, my son made an exquisite choice."
"I am sorry to say so, my lady, but it feels like you're view is that Kili is exhibiting me as if I were a priceless antique."

"Lyra..." Thorin warned.

"No, please, brother. She is just trying to pass my test."
"Dis, we all know that no one has ever passed your test."
"I know." Mother smirked. Lyra kept her place and still made eye contact with her.
"Tell me sweetheart, have you stayed true to my son?"
"I don't know, that is your son's opinion."
"Don't pull me into this, Ly."
Lyra laughed,"I'm sorry, I had to choose the one with the correct answer."
I smirked,"Yes, mother, Lyra has stayed true to me."
"Alright, I-" She paused as she saw the stone she gave me, now turned into a necklace, around Lyra's neck,"I believe we should catch up in the dining hall." She pulled me with her.
I looked back at a puzzled and disappointed Lyra, she turned away and walked to the direction of our room.

~hours later~
Lyra didn't come to dinner until later.
"Nice of you to join us, Lyra." Thorin smiled. She just nodded and gave a letter to Pema.
"It's best you read it." Her eyes were puffy and red. Pema did so, she then dropped the letter and hugged Lyra, who'd started to sob into Pema's shoulder. I got up and we went to our room.
"What happened?"
Lyra sighed,"Grandmother Hagar..."
"Oh, Ly..."
"Kili...what if she isn't there when I have a child?"
"Hey...I know it's hard, and that you're sick of losing people, but...when you're mortal, death is apart of life."

She nodded and I kissed her forehead. Then she kissed me deeply and laid me on the bed. Laying on top of me. We broke apart and smiled at each other. I then kissed her ear, making her giggle. I then flipped over and I was on top. I kissed down her neck and then back up to her jawline, then her earlobe. She chuckled until the door suddenly opened.

"Kili! Your un-" It was mother!

"Mother!"
She scoffed,"Off the poor child!"
I got up and helped Lyra sit up. I sighed then smiled, kissing her nose, then stood up.
"What does uncle want?"
"To speak with Fili and you about both of you boys' part in the wedding. I'll keep Lyra company."
"Okay," I walked to the threshold,"Please don't hurt her..."
"Just go!"
I sighed and left.

Pema's POV
I walked to Lyra's room with Vili. I opened the door and found Dis there.
"Oh, my lady Dis, I'm sorry. I'll come back later."
"No worries my dear, come in, please!"
I bowed my head swiftly, then sat on a lounge chair, setting Vili on my lap.
"He needed to get out of the room since there isn't much excitement going on here."
Lyra laughed, looking down at her hands."I agree."
"Lyra, are you sure you don't want to have the wedding...somewhere else?"
"You're older, it's your choice."
"Well...Vili should get to know his home..."
"It's settled, here in Erebor."
"When d'you think you and Fili are gonna have another?"
"Don't know. Fili and I think he'll be an only child for now."
"Lyra, what about you?"
Lyra looked up slowly,"Kili and I are still deciding..." She looked back down."Vili is already heir to the throne. I-"
"Lyra! I don't care if my child is heir! You can't grieve any longer!"
"I only got the news today! I haven't been really-"
"I don't care, Lyra! You-"

"Girls!" Dis exclaimed,"Please...your wedding is soon! No arguing!"

I sighed and got up with Vili, then left the room. Fili was coming towards our room, smiling when he saw me.
"Hello, my loves." He smiled, kissing our heads."How are you?"
"I don't want to talk about it." I huffed, walking into our room.
"What happened?"
"Lyra happened! She's telling your mother that she won't have kids because "Vili is the heir" and it's unreasonable to say that because-"
"Pema...Lyra is as nervous as you were when you got pregnant, Lyra isn't ready since she is un-barren now."
"I just-she's like my little sister, and I don't want her to be scared, Fili. Lyra had been scared all her life since she's lost so many people. I want it to stop."
"Hey...worry about yourself now. I don't want you stressed before our wedding day. It isn't good."
"Alright..." I huffed.
"Thank you, my love." Fili kissed my head.

Lyra's POV
Dis brushed my hair softly.
"Your hair is lovely, may I braid it?"
"Yes, of course." I whispered. She pulled my hair back, but stopped and touched the tip of my ear.
"Lyra..."
"Please, my lady..." I was interrupted by the door.
"Dis, I need to speak to Lyra and Kili alone."
"Alright, brother." She nodded and kissed my head."Don't hurt her." She left.

"Lyra..." Kili placed a hand on my shoulder. I turned and faced Thorin.
"What is it?"
"There is a...how do I say this? Traditional event after the wedding between the bride and groom. Pema and Vili do not have to do it but-"
"It's when the royal family and some important nobles watch us...become intimate." I finished."My mother explained this to me."
"Wait, they watch us?"
"Yes." I whispered.
"Ah..."
"It will be awkward, but we'll be still and quiet."
"Alright..." I mumbled.

"Um...uncle, can I speak with Lyra alone?"
"Alright." He left and Kili looked at me.
"There's someone you don't want to disappoint, I see."
"What?"
"Frerin."

Oh boy...
