CW — mentions of su1c1d3, shouting, someone calling reader 'whore'

"Y/N, just get out! You already messed up my project. I don't want you messing another one."

You were startled when you heard Kaveh raise his voice towards you.

Today was supposed to be one of the days you and him spend time together. However, you got to their dorm a bit too early and you accidentally knocked down one of his projects for his classes.

At first, you tried fixing it but it only got worse.

Tears were threatening to fall down your face as you could only stand and watch.

"Y/N, please, get out."

His words snaps you away from that state making you leave the dorm, sobbing. As if this day could get any worse, your biological mother called.

You really didn't want to answer but not answering her would make it worse.

"Ah, it took you long enough. How are you? Do you have a boyfriend na (now)?"

You try your best to sound like you weren't about to cry from the past interaction from Kaveh. "I'm doing okay, Mum. Why did you call?"

"Your dad (your mum's new husband) was asking about you. He wanted to know if you were doing great."

Hearing her talk about that man made you sick to your stomach. "Ma, if that's all I'll leav—"

"You're gonna leave already? What, just because you got into the university you wanted you will ignore me now? And what have I been seeing in your pictures? I didn't raise you to look like whore. I told you to dye your hair brown (if ur hair colour is brown change it to something else neutral 😭) and you didn't listen to me. All my co-workers are saying you look ugly now. Why didn't you listen to me, ha?!"

"Ma, I'm doing my best to make you and my real dad proud. I wouldn't want to waste his hard-work just like that so I barely called home. I dress well to express myself and I can style my hair whatever I want. I'm not 14 anymore. Are you not tired of trying to manipulate me?"

You couldn't handle it anymore. You hid in a secluded area to avoid being seen crying so you just let it all out.

"Manipulate you? All my life I worked day and night just to give you the life you deserved. Your father was trying to brainwash you into saying all of this, huh? Why don't you trust me for once and take my advice?!"

"I lost my trust years ago when you cheated on him! I had to endure seeing him get depressed and sacrifice his happiness for me. If I'm being honest, I didn't even want to study art! I just wanted to impress you for once. The best decision my dad made was divorcing you and remarrying a new woman. At least he's happier now than with you."

While you were yelling your heart out while calling your mother, little did you know that someone was listening in, waiting for it to end.

You assumed she was speechless. So when you finally ended the call, you were now full on sobbing. The emotions you tried to suppress were now out. You couldn't help it anymore. All the stress and worries you've had been building up had finally decided to show.

Alhaitham kneels down to your level and hugged you, a scene you realised was similar to days ago when Kaveh was trying to comfort you after Alhaitham's news of dating your roommate.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

You mutter 'yes' to him, of course. And so, he lets you speak.

"It all started earlier when me and Kaveh wanted to hang out together but then I accidentally ruined his project. Then, my mum called me in the worse time possible and whatever you saw happened. I'm so sick and tired of all of this. I'm tired of everything. Maybe if I just kill—"

Alhaitham widens his eyes as he almost heard the words you were about to say. "Y/N, breathe. It's all gonna be okay."

You cried even more. Why is he being nice to you right now?

You didn't want that.

He has a girlfriend.

You didn't want your feelings towards him to strengthen.

"No it's not! Haitham, I know deep down that everything's not gonna be fine! I cry easily when I get shouted at, Kaveh's extremely mad at me, I'm gonna flunk my classes and yo—my crush won't ever like me back?"

"So what if everything won't be alright? You still have me. I won't leave you."

That's what Kaveh said and yet he shouted at you.

"Sooner or later, you'll end up leaving me as well. Alhaitham, do yourself a favour and don't talk to me again. I'm sorry."

You tried walking away but he grabbed your wrist, stopping you. "So you're just going to end our years of friendship just like that?"

"Yes. Now please, let go of me."

He gives you a sad look before finally letting you go.
