Aiden began driving to our destination, thereupon some time passed and the verbal battle between Grace and Warren terminated, my happening eyes caught the reflection of Aiden's jade eyes, and our gaze fastened through the rearview mirror. For a moment, I overlooked the existence of Grace and Warren, it was just him and me. And he smiled, the smile that weakened my heart.

" Emerald, have you ever been to the fair before?" Warren asked diverting my attention from Aiden.

" Considerable numbers of times, my parents used to take me when I was a child," I replied softly, flickers of my childhood pleasant moments flashed in front of my eyes.

"Emerald girl, come on then, let's rule this ground," Grace exclaimed, in mirth. I gazed outside of the window and discovered that the car has come to halt and the massive entrance of the fair was in the sight. Everyone oozed out, and I little too exuberantly.

I stood there relishing the incredible spectacle that was circulated in front of me. Thereon, I felt a warm presence near me, Aiden stood next to me.

" Someone seems buoyant," he commented, my head whirled around and my eyes fastened with him.

"It's been a long time since I have been to the fair," his eyes were soft and shone with blithesome.

"Hence, we should enjoy without wasting a moment here," he said and we all strode inside.

"You are a sore loser, Warren." Grace was laughing at Warren because he had lost in the game and endlessly complained about it.

Looking up, I acknowledged that the luminous day has declined into a glorious night. The lanterns and fairy lights lit up the entire ground delivering an excellent spectacle. The gigantic big wheel spun slowly round and round and people wandering were delighted. The snatches of conversation could be heard around me, the tempting aroma lingered in the atmosphere near mouth-watering food stalls. After a long time, I felt contented. So, I was rejoicing every trivial aspect here eagerly, savoring each moment, so I could cherish it when there occurred a gloomy cloud over me.

"Everyone knows you cheated," Warren settled his arms on Grace's shoulder and pulled her closer and I smiled at the gesture.

" They are adorable, aren't they?" I said to Aiden, who was uninterestingly watching the dual ripostes, from next to me.

" They fucking aren't," I chortled at his irritation. It was true, that their repartee had not ceased once, for me it was a factor of amusement but Aiden and individuals around us had a different judgment.

In between laughs regarding Grace and Warren's verbal banter and Aiden's misery to bear wild duo, my eyes caught a sigh of cotton candy countered in the distance. Aiden's gaze pursued my direction. My eyes shone with a glint of happiness as a flicker of childhood flashed in front of my vision. My father often brought cotton candy for me and my mother used to falsify angry expressions toward him for giving me sweets.

" Do you want to go there? I am wearied listening to their silly arguments," Aiden pointed his first finger in the direction where I was gawking at. I would never decline the offer tempting as this.

I gave him a nod along with a smile. There was a feeling that he purposely took me there as he saw me gawking greedily at cotton candy, Grace and Warren were mere excuses, perhaps I could be mistaken.

We wandered towards the stall, side by side. The place around the stall was swarmed as cotton candy was the prominent fascination among children. Parents were monitoring minors, so they can't induce any trouble whilst some teenagers were loitering and quipping while waiting for their opportunity to taste delicious.
