Rainy days

The bright golden sun shined through the dark clouds that had covered the town a few minutes prior. The ground was still wet and covered in puddles, so Caesar had to be careful not to step in water; he would get wet, and he might slip. He didn't want his friend to get worried about him. But his friend would always worry about him, no matter what. Even if Caesar had gotten as much as a scratch, Joseph would always ask him about it.

Caesar would be lying if he said that he didn't find it just a tiny bit annoying. But alas, at least Joseph would always care about him, even if he did know about what Caesar did in the past. The things that would haunt him forevermore. The blood. The greed he had once possessed. The way he had gotten his father killed... that's what he though anyways. He held on to his past tightly, and he would never let it go. He ruined the lives of the people around him, and he can't bare the thoughts and the flashbacks that always accompanied his long, sleepless nights.

Caesar was tired. And in more ways then one. He was physically exhausted, but not as much as mentally. He was worn down from all these years of fighting and death, and he just wanted to be able to sleep peacefully for one night. Was that too much to ask? Was he being selfish and greedy? He probably shouldn't act like this all the time, thinking about himself was selfish anyways. Other people are going through worse things as well.

He stepped over a small puddle in the cracked sidewalk and continued on his way. Caesar had good days and bad days, but this just so happened to turn out to be a bad day.

When he had bad days he canceled the plans he had with Joseph, hoping not to upset him too much. But it was too late now, because it was 8:30 and he had to be there by 9:00. In all reality, Joseph's house really wasn't all that far away from his own, he just needed to calm down. He was going to his secret spot that only he knew about. It was a cute little place in a big flower garden that had been overrun with vines, or at least that's what everybody else thought. It wasn't actually all vines, on the other side of the smooth, shiny leaves there was a clearing, flowers still blooming in pink, purple, blue, red, and orange. And at the center of it all, there was a wooden and metal park bench that had vines twisting up the legs, not quite covering the seat, but they did go up the back. Flowers were arranged in beds, the most noticeable being the round one that surrounded it, then the one placed on the right to the park bench. All different types of flowers grew in the beds, and it was stunning. Caesar had even bought hanging baskets and filled them with hanging flowers, then put them on the vines up top. He had also made a stone pathway, and moss had grown in-between the cracks to make it nice and soft. It matched nicely with the cute little red and white mushrooms that grew here and there. It was his space and his space alone, nobody else knew where it was.

Spring had just started, and the flowers were just blooming their brilliant colours. It was perfect. It was perfect there until the rain started up again and he heard a loud crash, and saw the sky light up. He sat up from the cozy bench and walked out of the secret place quickly. It was now 8:55 and he quickly ran to Joseph's house. He was about to knock when he realized it had only been 2 minutes. He waited, getting soaked in the rain, unknowing to the fact that Joseph didn't mind if he was a few minutes early.

He heard another strike and jumped a little bit. At least there were not going to be any bugs around.

By the time 9:00 rolled around, Caesar's clothes were soaked through and he was in an even worse mood than earlier. He was angry and sad and disappointed in himself for arriving so early and not checking the weather. Caesar knocked on the door 2 times. A few seconds roll around and the door opens to see a cheerful face greet him from the house.

"Caesar! I made us-...," Joseph cut himself off and looked at Caesar for a moment before speaking again. "You're soaking wet, Caesar! Come in and we can find out just how wet you really are," Joseph spoke the last sentence in a low tone, and it took a while before Caesar understood what he was talking about. The second it hit him he gave Joseph a look, and Joseph burst out laughing as he moved aside. As Caesar walked into the long, bright hallway he muttered something about Joseph being a dirty person and a creep, he couldn't help but let his shoulders relax at the little bit of warmth he felt.

Joseph laughed as he noticed Caesar relax. He walked over to Caesar's soaking body and put an arm around his shoulder. "Doesn't it only take 5 minutes to get here? Why are you so wet? I know it's not raining THAT much," Joseph questioned him. Caesar took a second to glance over at his best bud, his arm wrapped around his shoulder. He was pleasingly warm, and somehow he managed to preform this act being both rough and gentle at the same time. Caesar looked down and blushed, his blonde hair flopped infront of his face.

"I went somewhere. Then it started to rain, so I decided to walk here. It only took 5 minutes but it was 8:55 when I got here so I-" Joseph cut him off, a surprised expression strewn across his face. "Huh?! What?! Why didn't you just knock, dumbass?!" Joseph scolded him loudly. Caesar looked at him, sort of confused. "I can?" Caesar asked, removing some hair that had fallen on his face when he looked down. "Wouldn't that be impolite?"

Joseph just looked at him for a second, then slapped the back of his head. "No! Literally nobody thinks that! 5 minutes?! Are you crazy?! Plus we are bestfriends, dumbass," he judged him playfully. "Ow!" Caesar said semi-quietly when Joseph hit the back of his head.

"Stupid. I'll be back, stay there," Joseph said, leaving Caesar to his thoughts. Caesar was always the 'Follow the rules' type of guy, so he was the one who was scared to mess up, even though he would never admit it. He messed up sometimes, but he was one of the important role models that everyone expected to be perfect and right all the time. He couldn't act different for a second. This was the personality he had forged for himself, this was the laugh he made up, and the interests he practiced. It was too late at this point to change that. And if anyone figured his true self out... he wouldn't know what to do. He had to live up to everyone's expectations, no matter what.

He slicked his damp hair back, then closed his eyes and let out a deep sigh. This isn't normal, is it? Could he ask Jojo about it? Maybe. But he would never understand, he has always been the brave and funny one, while Caesar was more of a mystery. Hell, no one even knew what his biggest and only fear was... it was simply too embarrassing to express. Joseph then walked down the wide hallway to Caesar, holding something in his arms. Caesar, still lost in thought, only noticed Joseph when a towel was thrown over his head. Caesar barely held back a yelp as Joseph started to aggressively rub the towel on his head.

It kind of hurt, and Caesar was trying to pry Joseph off of him, put he was a lot stronger than him and didn't manage. "Joseph! Get your sticky fingers off of me! I might get a disease!," Caesar daud as he put his feet on Joseph's chest and pushed, but Jospeh was reaching over him. Once his hair was almost dry, Joseph removed the towel to see a very angry Caesar staring at him.

Joseph paused and gulped. He had just fucked up big time. "Shit," Joseph said, and turned to run, but Caesar had a firm grip on his collar and pulled him down. "Don't think I don't know your lite secret," Caesar said ominously. O-Oh? Really no-now?" Joseph dared and stuttered out, trying to regain composure as he had no idea what Caesar was talking about.

"Y'know, your stomach," Joseph went paler than a ghost. He subconsciously touched his stomach, protecting it as he bit his lower lip. "No... you wouldn't...," Joseph shivered out of fear. Joseph knew he dared to do it, but he told himself otherwise. Caesar inched closer, but way to fast for Joseph's taste.

Thinking about kakyoin, aren't you?

Caesar started to tickle his stomach, and Joseph started laughing loudly. "N-no! N-no there!! S-stop!" Joseph said through his laughs. As Caesar was tickling him, and as Joseph was pleading with him to stop, he wished this moment would never end. He wished it could be like this everyday, just him and Joseph having fun together. Once Joseph's stomach hurt really badly, Caesar stopped and laid on the floor next to him. "Having fun yet?" Caesar teased. Joseph noticed that Caesar was still soaking, and grabbed the towel. Joseph put the towel over him and laid down again.

"You're lucky I love you, Caesar," Joseph said against his own will and better judgement. Caesar took a moment to fully process the words that just came out of the brunettes mouth. Joseph didn't even realize what he said until Caesar had fully taken in his words. "You... you what?" Caesar looked at him like the world depended on his next words, and they did. Well, Caesar's world at least.
