CHAPTER 43- THE UNEXPECTED

                                    

                                          
Aaron's pov
It was past eight thirty in the morning and i was in the car waiting for everyone. I pressed the horn non stop, tired of waiting, seeing no sign of anyone coming.
"Guys, come on. We are getting late!" I shouted but didn't get any response. It was nothing unusual. Mia was the first one who arrived but get surprised when i didn't see any sign of Jayden tagging behind her, like always. Usually those two was inseparable and hardly get to see them alone.
"Good morning, Aaron" Mia says smiling taking the seat on back.
"Morning Mia, where is your soulmate, Jay?" I asks with a smug smile but surprised to see Mia get worked up on hearing Jayden's name. Did something happened between them?. 
"How did i know, where he is?." Mia scoffs harshly looking down. It was the first time i see Mia getting mad over something. Are those two are fighting?.
"Huh... I see.. My bad, How do you know anyway where he is?" I  shrugs understanding her discomfort but get a glare from her in return. So Mia can be scary too. She looks like,she would kill me if i utter one more word about Jayden. How scary!!
The next person who arrived was Derek and he sit on the passenger seat, beside me, giving as a small morning. It was clear that Derek wasn't in a good mood either. So, Olivia didn't make up with Derek till now. Afterwards Sarah, Jayden and lastly Olivia arrived one by one. Jayden sat behind,in between Mia and Sarah and Olivia sat at the window side next to Sarah. 
No one was speaking anything and it was becoming awkward. Mia was looking outside throughout and Jayden was scrolling through his phone always taking one or two, subtle glances at Mia now and then. Something is definitely up in between them.
On the other side, Olivia was staring at Derek who was on the passenger seat looking outside, not even averting her eyes for a moment. Why aren't they making up, yet?. I could see how much they both, care for each other. I sighs, before averting my eyes to Sarah through the front mirror.
But what i don't understand is that what's wrong with Sarah?. Why is she being so silent and moody, all of sudden?. What could  have happened to her?.
It was so awkward that i thought to come up with something. "Olivia, how was yesterday's birthday party of Elijah at Moon stone pack?. I heard he didn't find his mate but yet they held his coronation."
Olivia looked hesitant to avert her eyes from Derek but answered it atlast. "huh..The party was really great. I think if the physical condition of Alpha Everett wasn't that bad they will be waited Elijah to find his mate before doing the coronation. Anyway i feels bad for him, even though he sensed the scent of his mate for a mere second but couldn't find her, right Sarah?" Olivia asks turning to Sarah who was in a trace.
"Y-ya, That's r-right." Sarah says stuttered, almost unaudible.
"Are you not feeling well?" Olivia asks concerned gaining everyone's attention.
"I-I am alright, just a headache." Sarah  shrugs rubbing her forehead tiredly.
"Take a nap Sarah, i will accompany you to the nurse room when we arrive at school." Derek says immediately concerned. I could see the glare of Olivia on Derek through the front mirror. Olivia looked dreadful and her scent holds slightest anger. Is she jealous?. But why?. Sarah and Derek has complete platonic relationship and they are like friends. So what's troubling Olivia?. I shrugged minding my own business and driving fast.
"Guys, see you on lunch. I have history first. Hey, Olivia, what is yours?" Jayden asks when we all are infront of our lockers. Olivia was completely immersed looking at Derek who was helping Sarah to standing up. She was particularly glaring at Derek's hand  that was placed over Sarah's shoulder. Sarah was completely fine till yesterday, i see her before leaving to Elijah's party along with Alpha Alexander and Olivia. Maybe she is having the troubles from hangover.
"I will also take Sarah to nurse room" Olivia says but Derek didn't even spared her a glance.
"What about you Aar-" jay was cutt off by a high pitch sound. We all looked back to to see Rose standing there showing her front a little too much. 
"Jay, how many times i called you yesterday. Why didn't you pick it up?. I was worried you know?" She asks taking the hand of Jayden and intervening it with her, acting dramatically. I want to gang at her fake worries. She doesn't even know how to act, it was too fake to anyone's eyes. It's not like she cared anyways.
Rose was famous for her rumours about going with anyone as she pleases. Why is she acting so friendly with Jayden all of sudden. Olivia and me exchanged some glance while Derek and Sarah didn't even gave much attention to it. Mia was looking down, not even uttering a word the entire time. I can see Jayden's subtle but nervous glances towards Mia.
"I was busy. But why are you here?. Didn't i told you,i will contact?" Jayden mumbled pissed, in hushed tone forgetting we all are werewolfs standing besides him.
"You didn't contacted me as you promised that's why I came myself to see you. As your girlfriend, i was worried, okay?." She sassed, passing a coffee cup to Jayden. I frowns hearing she claiming Jayden's 'girlfriend'. What's going on?.
I thought Jayden would lash out or do something, to shut her off but he only glared at her, didn't saying anything to object her, like he was silently agreeing whatever she claimed. Olivia and Sarah seemed mad while Derek looked normal. Mia didn't looked up staying frozen like her eyes was glued to the ground. Not waiting for mate is considered as sin in our pack.
 I don't understand what is going on with Jayden, anymore. Isn't he secretly crushing on Mia?. He is really stupid for not waiting for his own mate. I glared at jay before silently glancing at Mia's sad face. She really don't deserve to be treated like that!!.
"MATE"  all of us looked back hearing a dreadful growl from behind to see Elijah standing there in red blood eyes. His gaze was intense and he seemed pissed. He walked towards us and stopped infront of Mia making all of us shocked.
Mia and Jayden, both seem frozen perfectly. I see the coffee on Jayden's hand fall to the ground with a thud and he seems shell shocked.
I gasped wide-eye, Sarah seems to be trying to violently suppress her own reaction, probably because it had been instinctively rude, but the result is her face turning a horrid purple color and her lips turning white as she presses them together. Derek and Olivia has done a better job of not reacting,but their eyes are unquestionably wider.
Don't tell me Mia is Elijah's mate!
