Character POV: Jay-Z
I'm getting tired of this shit. Not like I had other plans tonight anyways.
I arrived at the party in the Hamptons after midnight, but it was still packed with people. The house was enormous, with a large outdoor pool and a huge yard filled with people, music, and drinks. I could hear music playing from inside. The air was thick with the buzz of energy and the sound of music pulsing through the walls.
I made my way towards the backyard through the crowds of people, exchanging head nods to many people as I went, seeing some familiar faces along the way.
"Jay, good to see you, nigga!" Diddy called out. I turned around and saw him with his arm draped around the shoulders of a random woman. She looked like she was in her early twenties, with long wavy black hair and a pretty face. He introduced her, "This is my baby right here."
I could tell he was tipsy.
The girl giggled. "I'm your baby, huh?" she asked.
"Of course. This is real love right here." he said as he gave her a kiss on her on the cheek.
I swore he was with Jennifer. I guess not tonight.
Someone called him over before he walked off, and I watched him disappear into the sea of people.
I stayed behind, chatting with people and drinking a beer. I was enjoying myself, having a good time. But then I felt my energy waning, so I decided to seclude myself from the crowd and head back towards the bar. As I stood there, watching the partygoers dance and laugh, I heard a familiar voice behind me.
"Can I get two shots of Patron, please?"
I turned around and saw her standing there. Her skin glowed in the light, and her long black hair cascaded over her shoulders.
"Aaliyah?" I asked, surprised to see her here.
"Oh, hey Jay!" she said with a grin. "How have you been?"
"I'm good, and you?"
"Busy, but I'm just happy to be out of the studio for once." She tipped the bartender. "So, you came alone?"
I shrugged. "Yeah. Thought it would be better this way. Where Dame at?"
"He wasn't feelin' it tonight."
"I'm assumin' you came with some other folk," pointing at the drinks that were made per her request.
She laughed. "No. I came solo. Want this one?"
"Sure." I quickly downed the shot and held out my glass for another. That shit was strong as fuck. I noticed Aaliyah cackling as I tried my best to keep up with her.
After a few more shots, I felt a little bit lighter. We fell into an easy conversation, our words flowing effortlessly as we talked about everything from music to our dreams and aspirations. Aaliyah's wit and intelligence drew me in, and I found myself captivated by her every word.
As the night wore on, we continued to talk, lost in our own little world of conversation. I was so engrossed in our exchange that I didn't even notice the rest of the partygoers slipping away into the night.
It was only when Aaliyah looked at her watch that I realized how late it had gotten. "I should be going," she said, reluctantly breaking our connection.
I nodded, feeling a sense of disappointment wash over me. "I'll walk you out," I offered, and we made our way towards the door, our footsteps echoing through the sparsely-filled house.
As we reached the entrance, Aaliyah turned to face me, a playful smile on her face. "So, what are your plans after this?" she asked, her eyes dancing.
I looked at her, confused. "Whatchu mean?"
