But Lucy was different.
She was my water, air and wine. I were thirsty without her, could not breath, I craved her. 'That's not true. Your life belongs here, with me' I gripped her shoulders and squeezed them firmly, having her almost the same height as myself. She widened her eyes and gulped, trying to step back if it wasn't for my hold. I ran my fingers down her shoulders, feeling the soft satin and her cold skin.
'You deserve better then me' she spoke and I took a breath and dropped my tone, tensing my knuckles over her. I could feel my expression darken without looking in the mirror.
'Ah yes? Follow me then' I hissed and held her arm as I led her to a bricked wall in the corner of my living room.
I pulled out my wand from the cane and swung it towards them.
'Aperi mihi' the bricks began dissembling cracking away into nothing, revealing a pitch black passage. It stunk of mildew and iron. Lucy looked horrified but also somewhat intrigued as she peeked inside.
'Ladies first' I invited her with an ironic smile. I pointed my wand towards the darkness, making the torches light up. The spiral staircase leading downstairs was revealed and the girl bravely, yet with caution stepped down, without a word.
We reached the bottom of the stairs, the prison cells were just around the corner. I shivered at unpleasant memories arising in my mind. Interrogations, mudbloods and muggles...
'You've decided to brick me up in the end?' For the first time her soft voice sounded free, without anger, sadness or tension. It snapped me back to reality. What a peculiar woman...
'I've decided to show you, no one but you is fit for me. We are alike, my dear' I held the small of her back as I showed to her the last piece of my basement. Iron bars still smelled of blood and decay, or perhaps I was imagining it. Her pretty eyes gathered the room and she held a hand to her chest. I heard her heart beat vividly.
'We both hide a beast inside. A face we don't show in the daylight' I said quietly and she wrapped her arms around herself, as she looked over the room.
'A darkness hard to tame when the moon takes over the sun' She whispered, as she turned around. I approached my wand to the side of my neck, just under the jaw and unveiled hidden mark forever drilled onto my skin. A small gasp escaped her throat as she realized she were staring at Azkaban runes.
' I filled every order of the Dark Lord to my best extent and I pulled my family into ruin' I clicked my tongue, glancing at the cells with disgust.
'Lucius...' her lip trembled as she palmed the mark gently, sending a shiver down my spine.
'Truly, it haunted me. It haunted me every day and night until one beautiful June evening... Lucy, when I met you, for the first time in years I went to sleep without tormenting nightmares. All I could think of... were you' I took her hand off my neck and kissed her knuckles, capturing her gaze with mine. She breathed out and closed her eyes for a moment.
Her beauty glowed over this grim place even now.
'This is not exactly the circumstances I imagined anyone confessing their courtship towards me' her charming laughter echoed across the basement and I chuckled myself. Somehow she always knew what to say.
'It is not a yes, but I'll consider your help' she held my hand and motioned towards the exit. I followed her, wishing to seal this place once more and hopefully never come back. Her promise would have to be enough for now. I knew I fell head over hills for her but it just felt so right. I wished for nothing else.
'Why don't you go relax while I'll have the dinner made for us. You must be tired' I spoke once the bricks clicked together, leaving an empty space. I thought a painting would fit nicely over it. Perhaps a portrait of me and Lucy... One day.
