Xiao was usually very adamant on keeping his peace inside of the Inn by himself. However, he was well aware that you and Qiqi were happy enough to bother him in your free time.
It was a routine at this point. He would be resting, but not asleep because he can actually go weeks without it. Xiao just idly sits on the roof with his legs dangling, listening and watching. That is until the two of you disrupt his peace.
"Xiao!"
He's not startled, but he shoots his eyes downwards. "Yes?" His dark green bangs were partially covering his piercing golden eyes.
Qiqi popped out from behind your legs. "We brought you a snack." She held up a bag in front of her head. Though did have to lower her arms so she could peek over the bag.
Xiao's features softened just very slightly, "I appreciate it, but you guys know I..." He faded out and turned his head away. "...I can't stomach most human foods."
You were very aware of this fact. "I understand. But it's not technically human food. Qiqi made it specifically for you."
He was quiet for a second. Most likely deciding what he wanted to do and how to respond. "What... what is it?"
Qiqi bent down and put her hand into the paper bag and carefully pulled something out. It was wrapped in plastic wrap but even from the height Xiao was seated at, he could see what it was. In her hand was some sort of cookie with a face of an animal on it. He couldn't tell what it was, so he didn't try and guess.
You smiled up at him, "If you teleport down here, you can be the first taste tester."
Xiao could tell he didn't have much of a choice in the matter, and he didn't want to be the reason you guys came up here for nothing. Within seconds he disappeared in a flash of green, and reappeared in front of you.
Qiqi dropped the snack in his hand. "It's a Cocogoat." She explained as if Xiao was supposed to know what that was. He did not, and looked to you for some type of answer. You just gave him a taunting grin which made him feel like he was missing out on something.
"A Cocogoat." He repeated. "Is that some sort of... illuminated beast?"
She nodded rapidly. "It's a huge legendary adepti. But... I've never seen it before, and I don't know where to find it. But I do know it's very magical."
Xiao listened to the description and never in his thousands of years of living, has he come across anything called a Cocogoat. Once again, he glanced at you for help, but received nothing. "Okay..." He observed the cookie and looked at it from multiple angles. He was starting to feel dumb for not knowing who this was. "You are artistic."
There was a curve in her lips. "Thank you. Try it, I'm sure it's good. Y/N helped me."
Xiao started unwrapping the plastic. For some strange reason, it wasn't cold. "Is the trip here not long? How is it still warm?"
Qiqi pointed to you, "their vision."
Oh right. Now he really felt stupid. You were pyro.
Instead of answering to his embarrassment, he took a bite from the cookie so he would have an excuse to not speak. It wasn't anything he would've willingly ate that's for sure. But the flavor of vanilla and a hint of strawberry, or perhaps it was violet grass, he wasn't too good with differentiating flavors. The outside was crispy, but the inside was soft and sweet.
