Chapter Twenty-Five

She looked at me and smiled. I watched her place the booo in the table then she came over and gave me a kiss. I smiled as I got my conscience back.

"Do you want to come somewhere with me later today?" I asked.

"Like in public?" I nod. She thought before hesitantly speaking, "Sure but not to publicly."

At that my smile grew. We can leave whenever she want them I think. "Well whenever your ready we may go then." I told her. "But sunset is best."

Her face lit up as she got an idea, "If it's outside we could go just before sunset and have a picnic!" Her voice sounded so happy I can't say no to it. Plus it's a great idea.

"That sounds perfect! We can go then." I said and she clapped her hands.

"When is sunset today though?" She asked getting her phone. Mines in the other room or I would have checked. "Six twenty four ish." She said scrolling down on her phone.

"So we should leave in about..." I looked around for the time seeing it on the oven just barley in sight. "... Fourty five minutes." By then it will be 6 and just enough time to drive to my spot.

"I guess so." She leaned over and kisses my cheek before getting up, my heart speed up from the action.

"Alex, come on we're going to miss sunset!" I yelled from the door. She is looking for her beanie because it's cold. She also said it would be a minute, it's been about five.

It was silent till there was a yell back, "I'm coming! I found it!" You could hear the smile in her voice. She came running down the stairs the did a swift turn around the corner reveling her in her beanie.

"Alright, to my car we go." I said as she followed me. We stopped for her to lock the door but then we continued the way to my car.

I unlocked the car when we got close, Alex got in the passenger side putting the picnic stuff in the back. I got in the driver's side then I started the car.

"Do you want to listen to some music?" I asked. If there's no sound when I'm in the car I'll either get bored and annoyed or car sick, if I'm a passenger.

Before I drove off I connected my phone to Bluetooth then threw it at her. She jumped when it hit her.

"Why did you toss me your phone?"

I shrugged and started to drive, "You can play some music. Put on whatever you want."

"But it's your phone and car." She pointed out. Obviously I know that.

"Mhm. Your point being? I have you my phone to play some music, so go on play whatever you want."

I heard her sigh giving up on the fight. Through the corner of my eye I saw her actually looking for stuff so I smiled in victory.

Something started to play through the car and the phone is now placed in-between Alex and I. "Happy?" She asked.

My head nodded, "Yep. Now we just have to get to the destination."

After my sentence we fell into a silence. The only sound was the car and others on the road with the music that's playing.

I parked the car where I always do when coming here. You can't see anything from where it is because the bushes hid it but it's easy to find the way if you look.

"We are here!" I announced making Alex jump at my sudden yell.

Her hand went to her chest, "That was loud. Where are we even?"

"Where I planned to take you today." I said unbuckling my seatbelt.

She did the same, "Which is?"

"We are literally here woman. Stop being so inpatient, you get to see in a minute." I grabbed my phone and the food then get out of the car.

I saw her roll her eyes and she slowly slid out of the car. "I'm very impatient. I'm surprised I lasted so long without having to know." Alex closed the door and I locked it. "Please just tell me!" She whined. I shook my head and walked to the bushes dragging her along.

"Now calm your horses. It just past right here." Alex rolled her eyes at my stalling, why not make her wait longer?

I grabbed the branches and pushed them aside. Stepping through I checked the time and sunset is almost here. She's behind me but I heard her gasp at the sight.

We're on the cliff I found years ago.

"This is a beautiful sight, Carter. It's the perfect overlook if the city." I hummed in agreement looking at her. "You found this just going on a walk?"

"Yeah. Just wait till the sun is setting, it's even better." I told her.

"I bet. But I'm starving so while we wait let's eat." She already grabbed the basket. "Come on." She made me sit with her, not that I wouldn't have anyway.

It's sad this will have to end tomorrow.
