"Welcome back, my love!" Jisoo greeted excitedly as Haein entered the door of his apartment. He just got back from Bali for a shoot, and Jisoo just finished the North America leg of the Born Pink. They both have a week off before work starts again - shoot for Veteran 2 and PR for DP2 for Haein, and the Europe leg of Blackpink world tour.
Jisoo expected anything but cold reception from her boyfriend. In her head, she recounted if they had even the slightest argument. But as far as she knows, there was nothing.
"Uhm, hi? Why do you look pissed? Should.. should I just leave?" She asked as, still wordlessly, Haein walked past her. Without looking at her, Haein sat down his sofa and started to scroll on his phone. "You can stay." He said flatly.
"Okay. But why.. why are you pissed?"
Haein's brows furrowed even more, "nothing."
Sitting down beside him, Jisoo peered on his face. Determined to make him talk, she continued to press on. "Is it about work? Is there anything we can do about it?"
"No. Work's fine."
"Then tell me what's wrong, Haein." Reaching out, she tried to get his hands so she could hold them, maybe try to ease out what's bothering him, but still, he wouldn't budge.
"Look, I'm tired. Can this wait until the morning?" He stands up to leave, not meeting her eyes, but Jisoo, who is significantly smaller than him, blocks his way and stops him with her hand squarely on his chest. "Hey," she cocked her head to catch his eyes. Still he refused to even look at her. "Jung. Hae. In." She said slowly, her hands gripping his shirt, and her eyes not leaving his face. "Hey, look at me." Gently, she let go of his shirt and reached out to cup his cheek.
"Please, look at me."
Sighing in defeat, Haein turned to look at Jisoo. Her face, the face he's seen countless times, with or without makeup, tired or not, never fails to make him feel warm inside. Every time she looks at him, he feels comfort, like sunshine on your cheeks on a cold winter's day. The way her touch managed to thaw the ice of jealousy that was starting to form around his heart.
Despite his mild nature, Haein hates losing in arguments. But when it comes to her? He cannot win. Does he mind? Definitely not.
"Look, I can't let you sleep with whatever's bothering you still in your head. Please, talk to me."
Nodding, he reached out to her hand and held it against his lips. "Now, sit down. I'll make tea."
After all the nights she stayed in his apartment, Jisoo already knew her way around his kitchen. She knew that he liked his cups stacked with the saucers to save space, and that he has a special drawer that stored all his different tea bags that are arranged from light to full-bodied. Jisoo knew where to find the honey that he likes with his mint tea, and which pastry to serve it with depending on his mood. Since he was not in his usual chipper mood, she went with the butter cookies with crystal sugar on top.
Proud of her preps, she turned to serve it in front of him, and was surprised to finally see him smiling. After setting down the tray, she walked to his side and reached out to cradle his face. Standing on her tiptoes, she placed a soft kiss on his lips, once.. twice. Before letting go and moving back to the other side of the table in front of him.
"If you think, just because you smiled at me, that I'm going to let this go. Nope. Talk to me."
Haein bit his lip that was still warm from her kiss. Now, he feels stupid about the reason why he was so pissed. "Promise me one thing though."
"What is it?"
"You won't laugh at me."
"Why would I laugh at you?" She said, chuckling. Upon realizing her reaction, Jisoo quickly covered her mouth. "Okay! Okay I promise I won't laugh at you. Tell me."
