Izuku felt a wave of nostalgia wash over him when he walked through the gates of UA. He hadn't visited this place in a while, even in the future, and the last time he'd been here things looked significantly different. Guess a war would do that to you, wouldn't it..? He tried to push those thoughts out of his mind, focussing on what really mattered: passing the entrance exam. But he must've been too distracted, taking in his surroundings and drowning in memories and feelings, because he stumbled and fell. At least, he was supposed to fall.
"Watch out! Don't want you to trip and fall right before the exam right? That's bad luck."
And as Izuku was pulled upright again by none other than Ochako Uraraka, he was once again reminded that some things were meant to happen.
"Thank you so much," Izuku smiled, glad he wasn't as tongue tied as the first time they actually met. "Are you here for the entrance exams too?"
"Yes!" she beamed, but before any of them could say another word, Katsuki entered the school grounds. They agreed to meet up here instead of in their neighborhood because Izuku still wanted to go see All Might before the entrance exam. It wasn't truly necessary, seeing as he already received One For All, but it was more of a mental thing. He wanted to hear his mentor wish him luck, to hear him give those strange instructions to clench his ass and so on and so forth. It made him smile, and could you really blame him?
"Oi Deku, let's go," Katsuki grunted, grabbing the green head's collar as he walked by in order to drag him along.
"Ah, sorry about this! Good luck on the exam!" Izuku stammered while he was taken away.
"Yes, you too!" Uraraka smiled, giving him a small wave as he disappeared around the corner.
"Kacchan! Stop it! Was that really necessary?" Izuku frowned, freeing himself from the blonde's grip halfway to the examination hall. "This was my second chance at getting a good first impression with Ochako-san and you ruined it!"
"What can I say? Some things are set in stone," he shrugged, not even remotely sorry for what he did. "Besides, you still got a second chance with four eyes today. He called you out on your mumbling during the examination debriefing, right?"
"Oh shut up! You know what I mean," Izuku frowned.
"Oh stop pouting, you're acting like I kicked your dog or something."
"I'm not pouting!"
"Sure," Katsuki smirked, pulling Izuku's face closer to his while holding onto the green head's chin. "Not pouting at all."
The fact Deku's face turned red at their proximity was an added bonus, one Katsuki didn't mind at all. No, they hadn't really talked about their relationship status while here. At first Katsuki thought it was because of the rules they set for themselves as colleagues: no PDA while on a mission or out in the field. They had to be professional and wanted to keep their private lives out of the media as much as possible. This whole situation counted as a mission, right? As being out on the field? They were trapped by a villain's quirk, for crying out loud, of course it counted! But still... It was different, wasn't it..?
Izuku pushed him away, avoiding eye contact as he covered up his face in embarrassment.
"You can't just do that Kacchan!"
"And why can't I?" Katsuki asked. It sounded like it was meant to be teasing, yet it was a serious question, one he'd been dying to know the answer to. They hadn't kissed in months! They hadn't even held hands! It was like their relationship didn't exist anymore...
"You know why," Izuku mumbled, calming down. "Come on, before we're late for the debriefing..."
He ended up muttering anyways, despite Katsuki's warning, and Iida called him out on it, like they expected him to. But it wasn't as amusing as it was the first time it happened. No, this time Katsuki had a sour taste in his mouth. Deku was avoiding his advances and it pissed him off! Luckily he'll soon have some robots to redirect his anger to.
