Chapter 37: Saving Face

"Miss Huajin, our president tends to be straightforward in his words. Please don't take it to heart," the secretary politely smiled at Huajin. "But I also urge you to reconsider. Someone like Pei Yan, with his status, would certainly consider a girl who matches his background if he has thoughts of marriage. What would you do then? As women, we must consider our own interests more. It's not about getting along with someone; it's about getting along with money, isn't it?"

"You're right, money is something everyone loves," Huajin smiled. "But a gentleman values talent and obtains it in a proper manner. I'm a timid person, and if I were to earn money through dishonest means, I would be afraid."

"I understand Miss Huajin's point," the secretary's smile carried a hint of coldness. She glanced at the shop and then turned to Pei Cunhai. "This shop has a good location, Boss, you should consider buying it."

Pei Cunhai sneered, "Your suggestion is excellent."

The secretary turned to gauge Huajin's reaction but was disappointed to see that she remained unfazed. Was she not afraid that once they purchased this location, her shop would have to move elsewhere?

The Fan Hua Studio had just gained some recognition, and now they were about to change their shop address. How many loyal customers would they be able to retain?

"I also think this suggestion is good." Pei Yan strode in from outside, his gaze icy as he glanced at Pei Cunhai. "Tomorrow, I'll have my assistant contact the seller. Do you want to compete with me in bidding?"

Pei Cunhai's expression changed. How did Pei Yan end up here? Did he hear the things he just said?

"If you want benefits from me in the future, don't play these petty tricks. Just come directly and please me," Pei Yan walked over to Huajin's side, his words blunt. "Just learn to meow like a cat, wag your tail like a dog. Maybe if I'm pleased, I'll grant your request."

Pei Cunhai's face flushed red with anger, waiting for Pei Yan to say something.

"Yan Yan, this person is so bad." Huajin clung to Pei Yan's arm and shook it, using a sweet tone. "He tried to bribe me to frame you. When I refused, he threatened me, saying he would make it impossible for me to stay here."

Pei Yan's arm stiffened in Huajin's grasp, and he tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Then tell me, how can I make you happy?"

"I don't care, just drive him away right now." Huajin acted like a petty person who had achieved success. "Seeing him glaring at me, my little heart beats in fear. You, Yan Yan, are so good-looking, rich, and gentle and considerate to me. I like you the most."

She kept using "me" in every sentence, occasionally stomping her foot and pouting. Pei Cunhai's secretary, witnessing Huajin's behavior, struggled to swallow her saliva. She hadn't expected Pei Yan to have such a preference... quite unique indeed.

"Pei Cunhai, even when dealing with a dog, one must consider its master..." Pei Yan couldn't help but inhale sharply, and he firmly pressed Huajin's hand twisted around his waist. His expression twisted slightly. "Pei Cunhai, it seems you're very dissatisfied with her, but as for the people around me, you don't need to meddle. Focus on managing your own company and don't bother the people around me. You know my temper has never been good. Sometimes, when I go crazy, I tend to forget your last name."

"Alright, alright." Pei Cunhai repeated the word "alright" three times, got up, and chuckled angrily. "I can't afford to provoke you. I'll leave."

"Wait." Pei Yan called out to Pei Cunhai and raised his perfect chin. "Even kindergarten kids know that when you've done something wrong, you should apologize. You're leaving just like that, which makes me doubt whether you're truly suitable to be the Vice President of Yuanpan Food."
