Tonight is our Charity ball. Lorelei and I already got our dresses picked out last month. They had to get altered. Since mine was meant for an extremely tall person and I'm no where near as tall as needed for the dress. We have to pick them up in twenty minutes. I went for the navy blue strapless sweetheart necklines ball gown. It has silver rhinestones down the bodice. It looks like a princess dress from the fairytales you get told about when you're a child. Lorelei fell in love with a dark green ball gown. The sleeves fall off the shoulders. The bodice is an all lace like flowers, which are the same color as the dress. The bottom of the dress is a satin material. The back of it is a corset. Lorelei is the one driving us to pick up our beautiful dresses. My mind replays last Friday all over.

I watch as the firefighters come storming into the diner. They take Grayson's usual table. Which is in my section. However, when I saw Grayson walk in, I immediately gave the table to Amy. She can have that table and all the tips that comes with it. As long as I don't have to deal with that crazy bunch of men. I watch as she seductively walks over to the wild bunch. Her seductive walk looks more like she's been banged up her rear more than anything. It's kind of funny and entertaining watching her act how she does.

Mentally I roll my eyes at her display. Who does that stuff? Amy that's who.

I watch from afar at my position behind the counter as each one of the firefighter start to chuckle at something she said. Maybe they're chuckling at her. Who knows. As soon as I see Grayson smile an actual smile at her; my heart sinks into the pits of Hell called my stomach. I'm never a jealous type but right now I have the little green monster sitting right on my shoulder. Oh how I want to wrangle their necks.

I can see Amy walking back towards the counter for the corner of my eye.

I keep chanting in my head 'Don't stab her with that rusty fork Pheebs. She isn't worth it.' Is the chant working? Not really. I still have that sudden urge to go for her jugular.

"Hey Pheeb. Can you help me with that table? They ordered enough food to feed all of Hell itself."

I stare at her with a blank expression. She wants help with what?

"Pheeb?" She calls out.

"Oh uh. Erm. Sure. Why not. Can't let the starving firemen turn into hungry lions." I joke. We start getting their drinks ready before their meals come out. I some how have managed to get Lane, Kelton, Collin, and Grayson's drinks. She only has two drinks in her hand. Apparently her manicure is more important than our customers. We both walk towards the table. My steps are a little slower since I have most of the drinks. I watch as she places Alex and Sam's drinks in front of them. Once she's out of the way, I carefully place Lane's drink in front of him. Once his drink is safely out of my hand; I start to go around the table passing out the rest of the drinks. As soon as I place the last cup down...... Gray's cup to be exact, I quickly dart back towards the counter; tripping along the way.

"Careful Speedy Legs or you're gonna break those precious things!" Lane calls out. All I can do is shake my head at his words. Before I could get comfortable behind the counter. Our cook begins ringing the bell, signaling food is up.

Crap!

I grab four plates like I did with the drinks. Amy has the last two, yet again. I have no clue who's is who's. I definitely can't tell which one is Gray's; he doesn't have his usual that he gets when he's on the clock.

"Meatloaf, mash potatoes with gravy, and coleslaw." I call out.

"Here." Alex says while raising his hand.

"Bacon cheeseburger with everything, chili jalapeño cheese fries, and a slice of apple pie." I call out.

"Right here." Kelton says while waving his hand.

"Be careful. Your rear might catch fire. Lorelei makes sure the jalapeño cheese sauce is extra spicy." I warn him. All he does is laugh. His laugh is so damn breathtaking.

"Steak medium rare, mac-n-cheese, with a small salad." I quickly rush out as I glance around the table.

"Mine." Lane says while smiling at me. Lord his smile can just knock you on your rear.

"Spaghetti with turkey meatballs, salad, and peach cobbler?" I question.

Who the hell ordered that?

A cough catches my attention and I see Gray's hand barely go up. Amy has given out the last two plates as I turn to walk away; I hear her voice. Her words make my heart sink further into my stomach. If it keeps going down any further, I might just poop it out.

"Gray the charity balls coming up. I know you don't have a date, so do you want to pick me up at five?" She asks. I freeze in my tracks as my back stiffens.

"Sure." He grunts out. My eyes become golf balls. Did he just..... There's no way.

"Great here is my address. See you then." She says.
She walks by my frozen state and gives me the side eye. The chanting in my head has turned into strangle her with her moppy hair. I can easily hide a body. I go to walk off yet again; when I'm stopped in my tracks for the second time in two minutes.

"Hey Pheebs. Want to go to the ball with me?" Lane calls out behind me. I turn around to face the table. I plaster a soft smile on my face and look at Lane.

"I would like that." Is all I say.

I look over at Gray and see he's clenching his fork. His knuckles have turned white.

I'm brought back to the present because of snapping fingers.

"Earth to Pheebs. We're here." Lorelei says.

"Oh sorry." I grumble.

I walk inside the small store to retrieve my dress. Let's hope tonight goes decent.

That's my only wish.

That's my only wish
