Chris Chambers pov:
I had noticed that Gordie has been staring at me for a while. A long stare every so often but I didn't confront him because I didn't want him to feel awkward. It made me a bit red. Over the few months we had spent together like the trip, spending time in the treehouse, had made me develop a stronger feeling for him. I wasn't going to lie, I thought I was falling for Gordon Lachance. I convinced myself I hadn't though because I knew what my dad would say if he found out but then I thought, doesn't look like Eyeball cares. Eyeball obviously had something going on with Ace but who was I to care.
I looked at Gordie. He looked back at me. His face grew red. "Are you okay? Your face is red." "I'm fine." He looked away. "He has a fat gay crush on you." "Shut up Teddy. You have a fat gay crush on Vern." He shook his head. "No I don't!" "Ooo!" Vern looked at Teddy with his jaw dropped. "Teddy? You're gay?" "Shut up Verno." He grabbed Vern's face and turned it so that he was now facing me. "Yeah Vern, he's so gay that he-" "Okay shut the fuck up Chambers." He stared at me in the eyes. "All of you shut up." Gordie leaned back in his seat and took his time to stare at every single person in the treehouse. "Sorry Gordie." We all said in sync.
I put my head on Gordies shoulder. "I couldn't sleep last night. Eyeball kept banging on the wall for some reason." Gordie looked at me. "Well I slept amazingly. Thank you for the comfort of your bed." "It's alright." I laughed. He laughed and placed his head on mine. I began to get butterflies.
I had used to think that I had a crush on Gordie. From the first time I met him up until Lydia came into the picture so like 5 days ago. He was head over heels with her. What did she have that I didnt? Right, she's a girl, I'm a boy. Boys and girls are meant to be together.
Something was telling me I should go home but I ignored it. It was probably just my mind playing with me. I couldn't shake the feeling off though. Something was definitely happening. Oh whatever. "You guys still going to school tomorrow?" "Uh, no Lachance. It's the holidays, remember?" "Oh right. That's okay then." "Gordie, I'm going home, you coming?" "I'll come." Vern stood up. Teddy stood up too. Gordie then also stood up. "I guess we are all going." I lifted up the latch and stepped down the ladder.
"A knight without ar-" "Shut up Vern! Can't we just enjoy some peace and quiet for once?" "..okay." He closed his mouth. "This is where I separate from you guys. See you." I began to walk away. "Not if I see you first." Gordie smiled. I smiled back and continued to walk down the road.
