(Tommy's P.O.V.)
As quick as I could I had arrived home and made a B-line for my office. Opening a drawer I pulled out a file that contained the temporary custody agreement and threw it on my desk before walking away to another cabinet. There I took out the file containing Roe's personal details. Birth-certificate, medical records and other stuff. I walked back to my desk and laid Roe's file down next to the custody agreement before taking a seat. I opened both files, taking out the birth-certificate and the custody agreement. I carefully took my time to read both documents. Before taking a look at Steve's signatures at the bottom of both papers. But no matter how long I looked, how hard I looked, I couldn't for the life of my detect a difference between the two. Both had the signature S that curled into the horizontal stripe of the T. And the letters E. V. E. where identical in size and linked to one another. I sighed and rubbed my temple in defeat.I was frustrated that I couldn't find any difference between the two signatures. And I was beginning to question if I maybe had just wanted Steve to tell me this and that my brain had just tricked me. I leaned back into my chair and grew more frustraded with every passing second. I couldn't find a loop hole in the custody agreement, both signatures looked identical from the father and mother on the two files. I had no idea, was absolutely clueless on what to do next. So, I sat in silence in my office as I kept my eyes on a photoframe. It was a photo of Roelynn and she was sitting tackless on Blue-eye. A huge smile was on her face while she had wrapped her amrs around the mares neck. The photo was taken around a year or so ago, I could tell because Roe's legs didn't even reach halfway down the mares side. While now Roe's legs would be over the halfway point, almost reaching the under belly of Blue-eye. I turned away from the photo, not being able to handle the sheer joy that radiated out of her eyes and hearing the echo of her giggles and laughs from that day in my mind. Another frustrated growl left my lips and I pushed the papers away from me. I was annoyed and angry at myself that I was stuck and couldn't figure out a plan. Then, I froze when an idea popped in my mind. It may be a small ome, but right now, I had nothing else. Quickly I stood up and grabbed the two documents, putting them in a file map before making my way out of the house.
With a fast pace I walked towards the large buidling in front of me. I pushed the door open walking inside, before getting stopped immediatly by a worker. "What are you doing here?" He asked annoyed. I didn't have to reply because Alfie showed up "Put him down, Ollie, put him down, mate. He's only little". His eyes looked down at my hands that held the documents before coming back up to meet my eyes. With a simple nod he turned on his heels, telling me to follow him to his office. "What you got for me?" He questioned as he took a seat. I laid the leather file on his desk and pulled both documents out. "Both signed by Steve and Marie Eden" I told him and handed both papers to him, "but someone told me that one might be fake". "Someone? You mean the dead. And with the dead you actually mean our friend Steve" he replied while locking eyes with mine. I knew that he had been friends with Steve before the war had started, after that he had the two had never spoken again. He took the papers from me and took a good look at them.
"Roelynn Eden" He hummed reading the name on the certificate, "But now known as Roelynn Shelby, although not officially". He laid the birth-certificate down to grab the custody agreement. Then after a while he started to compare the two signatures, holding the documents against the light and other stuff. He hummed laying the papers down again before sitting back in the chair. I raised an eyebrow waiting for him to tell me what he found. "The signatures are slightly different, but not enough to confirm that someone else signed it" he explained. My heart sunk hearing him tell me this and I let my head hang in defeat. There was nothing I could do now. "But I did find a loophole for you" he said leaning forward to show me the documents. My eyes snapped back up to look at him. "The custody agreement" he said tapping the paper with his index finger, "It's a Temporary agreement. Not a permanent one".
