Everyone finished lunch and cleaned up by now. I look to my right seeing Seungmin with a bothered expression, playing with the strings of his jacket.
"What's wrong?" He shoots his face up and meets with mine. I tilt my head in a way of asking him again.
"It's nothing." His answer was short and vague. Seungmin gives me a soft grin and turns his head back, continuing to fiddle with the strings.
"Hey," I pat on the boy's shoulder. "You can tell me anything." I return a reassuring smile.
Seungmin utters a small sigh and twists over to me again.
"I kinda want to talk to you alone..." The boy glances at a head glued to his phone Jeongin behind me.
I immediately get his idea and ask Innie to kindly leave. He looked a bit disappointed at first but left and told me he'd be waiting in the living room.
Once the younger left, I went back to facing Seungmin, ready to hear what he has to say.
"Seoyeon, it's really hard seeing everyone else with their soulmates." The boy starts. "It's been a year since I've seen a glimpse of my soulmate's mood."
Seungmin's words took me aback. "What happened to them?" I furrow my eyebrows, confused by the information he is telling me.
"My soulmate- well, she's gone. The dreams have been pitch black for a year now, I've never even got to see her. I always feel so empty, what have I done to deserve this."
The corner of Seungmin's tears welled up faster than his fighting them off. They fell down his cheeks and he wiped them off straight away.
"I-I'm so sorry Seungmin." I engulf him in a hug, patting him on the back. The pain he was going through is so much worse than mine. I was silly to think nothing will top that.
Seungmin sobs in my hold, soaking Jeongin's hoodie again. I let him though, he needs it. I hope Innie doesn't mind. He felt tiny in the embrace even though he's like way taller than me. I don't know if it was because our birthdays were so close we could understand each other more, but I felt his sadness when he pulled away.
"Do you know who she is though?" I ask out of curiosity.
"I think I do. I'm pretty sure I've seen her several times when heading to school. We made eye contact once and the next time our gaze met, I could see a hint of grey." He sniffles.
Grey eyes...
...ghost spirit?
"I wanted to chase her but when I turned around, she was gone. I've never seen her since. And a month later, my dreams disappeared." The boy continues.
A ball of pity hit me hard as I glanced at the boy looking down his shoes.
"I'm sorry you can't experience this whole soulmate thing but I hope you find someone who makes you feel the same as being with her." I place my hand on top of his, caressing it with my thumb. He surely doesn't deserve any of this, but there was nothing else he could do.
"Thanks, Seoyeon, but that girl will most certainly have to lose their soulmate as well." Seungmin joked.
Seeing his mood change after talking with him makes me feel so much better. He is so strong for someone who has lost his soulmate.
"Come on, Jeongin's waiting outside." The boy flashes me a smile and we head out to the living room.
I let my hair cover the pool of tears Seungmin created and sat down next to Innie on the sofa. My heavy head lands on top of the boy's shoulder and closes my eyes after I saw Seungmin walk upstairs, probably going back to his bedroom.
