Skylar POV

"why did we have to have such an early flight" I groaned as I leaned my head on Nolan's shoulder. we just arrived at the airport. and our flight was to be deported in a couple of hours.

"it was the only option that would give us the extra day in Carolina" he explained to me again, and I am sure he was sick of this by now.

Nolan and I were flying out a day before his team so that we could have most of the day with my family. Then my aunt would drive me down on game day, as Nolan had to meet with his team for training and all that jazz.

"you hungry?" Nolan asked if we were walking hand in hand.

we did not eat as we woke up got dressed and came right to the airport.but since we knew it was a long flight we made sure we were both dressed comfy.

"ya, i need a coffee" I needed to to help wake me up

"ya, i need a coffee" I needed to to help wake me up.

so we started our way to find somewhere to eat before we had to get to our grate.

"it's him i know it's him" I heard a young voice from behind me as we stood in line at a Starbucks since it was the only thing really around. I slowly moved my head to look behind me. there was a young boy who looked no older than ten with a man who I assumed to be his father.

"well, we dont know it's him. you shouldn't bug him" the older man tells the younger boy.

Nolan dropped my hand and turned around, and the kid's eyes lit up.

"see I told you Dad" he looked happy.

"I am sorry about him" The father looked guilty.

"it's all good, how about a picture?" Nolan says and the kid's eyes light up.

"Really!" The boy looked shocked.

so the dad hurried to get out his phone to snap the picture, and Nolan crouched down so he could be more level with the boy. and the dad was quick to snap a picture.

"thank you so much, funny enough we are on our way to see you play," The father tells Nolan.

"small world" Nolan grinned.

"your my favourite player" the little boy admits which causes his cheeks to flush.

"do you play?" Nolan asked him.

"ya I just started last year," he tells Nolan.

"well, hopefuly we can give you the win then," Nolan tells the boy.

"me too" he grinned and the person called next which was us.

Nolan held out his hand for a fist bump from the kid, and he gave it back to Nolan.  then we turned so we could get our order placed.

"You so sweet" I grinned as I leaned into his side. I have never really gotten the chance to see him interact with his fans yet. but seeing that made me swoon.

"well what can I say i am a nice guy" he shrugged like it was no big deal.

"and clearly you need to work on your humbleness" I shake my head and with a giggle.

"Skylar" My aunt yells out and starts rushing over to us.

"Hi," I sighed in contentment as we hugged.

"how was your flight?" she asked after we pulled away.

"not too bad we were able to sleep a little bit" I answered for both of us.

"well that's great, are you guys hungry? I can stop and get you guys something?" she questioned.

"I could eat" I looked at Nolan.

"sure" he nods, so we start to make our way to the car.

"I can wheel my own bag you know," I tell Nolan.

"I know" was all he said but kept wheeling both our bags.

"Carly isn't with you?" I asked my aunt

"she wanted to come, but she has a math test today" My aunt claimed.

"ah, right school" I mean how could I forget?

"but she's excited to see you." My aunt claimed.

"and Uncle J he's at the shop?" I mean I figured he would be.

"he was only going to work a half day, he should be home by the time we get home" she informed me.

"Well, thanks again for picking us up" I was grateful.

"It's no problem dear," she says.

we pulled up to the house and I saw Uncle J's car, so I figured he was home. and my answer was correct as he was coming out the door as I opened mine.

"oh I missed you" he pulled me into a hug.

"me too" I really did even though I saw them just over a month ago.

"hello sir" Nolan stuck his hand out for my uncle to shake.

"call me Jason or J, sir makes me feel old" Was his reply.

"All alright, Jason" Nolan had a slight smile.

"he's such a gentleman" my aunt whispered in my ear.

"I know" It was one thing I loved about him.

"you guys can go take your stuff up to your room," My aunt says as we walk into the house.

I nod and motion for Nolan to follow me, I was in the basement in what used to be Carly's playroom, but after my parents died and I moved in, they converted it into my bedroom.

"so this is what your teenage bedroom looks like" Nolan grins as he spins around.

"is it what you imagined it to be?" I smirked.

"no" he smirked. then walked over to my Pin board and looked at my picture that was clipped there.

"That's my parents," I tell him as I move so I can wrap my arms around them from behind.

"They look like nice people" he smiled and he was right, they were always so kind.

"my aunt has a box around here somewhere with some pictures, let me see if I can find it. I was such a cute baby" I grinned.

"look who needs a lesson on humbleness now" He got me there.

I just shook my head and started to go to the storage room down here.

"ah here w go this should be it," I tell him as I pull out a box with my parent's name on it.

"Victor and Margeret Morgan" Nolan reads the names off the box.

I opened the lip and started to look to see if I could find the photo album, and started placing things on the table beside me. But I couldn't help but do a double take as my eyes crossed a piece of paper, it was a certificate for adoption.
