Jim's Pov
It was after class. Toby had to leave early because he had a dentist appointment. Leaving me all alone.
I sat at one of the benches outside. I didn't feel like leaving. At least not yet..
"Shut up Pepperjack!" I heard Steve yell by the lockers followed by a bang and a squeal.
Looks like he stuffed Eli in a locker again. I sighed. If only they knew they were going to be the best of friends.
Steve may be a bully but he has a nice heart. He just hasnt realized it. But not to worry. He'll be nice when he meets Aja. At least I think so..
"He should've never gine without armor! He's gonna get himself killed!"
I remembered his words when Claire portaled me into Stuart's van.
I smiled at the thought.
I turned my head and found him yelling at Eli who was stuck inside the locker with a smirk on his face, his gang behind him.
I playfully rolled my eyes with a smile.
I turned back around and watched the cars pass and go along with people walking from here and there.
At least life is peaceful in this world. Though I do miss all of my friends. All the times they made me smile.. All the times they helped me.. And all the times their mere presence comforted me...
I closed my eyes and leaned back on the bench, slowly sinking down until I was slumped against the wooden seat.
"Hey." A woman said with her voice cracking. She sounded really familliar.
But I figured she wasnt talking to me so I ignored it.
"Ummm Jim, right?" My eyes opened as soon as I heard my name. Someone was standing in front of me.
I looked up and was shocked to see Claire.
She smiled once I locked eyes with her.
"Umm hey.." I said not really knowing what to say. "Mind if I join you?" I nod.
She sat herself down next to me. "Are you okay? You seemed tired." "Oh! Uhh, Im fine. Im just a bit stressed." I replied.
"Im sorry you didnt get Romeo.." She mumbled. "Its okay. I wasnt feeling well on the day of the play anyway.." I said sheepishly.
"So tell me about you." "Ummm... Im 15. And I was raised by a single mom.."
She slowly nodded. "Oh Im sorry. I have to go. My ride's here." She said and stood up.
She walked away and entered a car parked at the front.
I smiled. Though the conversation was awkward, it was a start. Who knows? Claire might already be interested in me.
I stood up and grabbed my bike.
That afternoon, I left the school, feeling proud.
