Kimmon POV
I take a seat in front of Bas's desk and intertwine my fingers with Colton's. Taking a deep breath, I glance at my mate, who gives me a quick nod.
This is it. I can do it.
As I turn back towards Bas, who is sitting behind the desk, he lets out a breath. A crooked smile dances across his face. "You don't need to be afraid or concerned about what I'll say. I've already talked with Copter and the elders about this. It would be best if you revealed our pack's secrets about our abilities to your pack. However, I don't give you permission to discuss anything else with them. That includes us being royals. Neither me, Tee, nor our families are comfortable with others knowing it. You also can't give examples of our abilities. It is okay for you to tell them some wolves have abilities, but don't give examples. If you want to provide an example, you can use your ability. Your pack needs to know about it."
He pauses for a moment and stares at me. A playful spark flickers through his eyes as he leans forward and rests his arm on the desk. "You haven't figured out what it is yet. We are going to have to resolve that soon, but I don't want to force it. Things might go wrong if I do."
I slowly exhale. Why was I so worked up about this? If only I had remembered they can read minds, I would have probably already known they knew what I was thinking. Ugh...
Colton slides to the edge of his chair. "Or we can talk about me. Sooner or later, they will find out about my abilities. Maybe it will be best for them to know from the beginning."
The spark in Bas's eyes fades along with his smirk. A strange tension builds in the room.
I squeeze Colton's hand and turn towards him. "Baby, that may not be the best thing to do. The pack first needs to get to know you without knowing your abilities. If we open up with you having powers, it might chase people away or scare them off. We don't want that to happen."
Hurt flashes across his face.
If I didn't already know what some of the people have been saying about him, I would be more than willing to tell everyone what he can do. I'm so proud of him, but others won't be. If we add their disgust with him being a male omega, they might harm him in order to use his power even if he is their luna. I can't have that happen.
With concern in his voice, Copter, standing beside Bas's chair, softly adds, "Cous, this is for the best. We need to take baby steps. I know this pack. Remember, I ran away from there. They have had lies drummed into their heads all their lives. It won't be easy for them to change just because you appear or because we force them to go through educational classes after the Great War. It has been a few years, but those thoughts and prejudices are still there, hovering under the surface and waiting to be set free."
His voice softens. "This is going to be the push they need to bring them back and open their minds."
Colton's face and shoulders drop as he stares across the desk at Copter. In a whisper, Colton asks, "Is it really that bad over there?"
Every fiber in my body wants to exclaim no, but I know it isn't true.
Sympathy fills Copter's gaze as he slowly nods, confirming the horrible truth.
Colton seems lost and in a daze as he continues to stare at his cousin.
The look of defeat on my mate's face pulls at my heart, and I would give anything right now to make his pain and turmoil go away, but I won't let him walk away from me, even if that isn't what the pack wants.
I squeeze his hand and gently kiss the back of it. "This only means we will have to take it slow introducing you to my pack. We might have to do extra things to show everyone what you mean to me and how much the pack really needs you. I'm positive when they see how kindhearted you are, they will love you and want you as their luna."
I swallow the lump in my throat. "The only problem is it won't happen overnight, but it will happen. I have faith in them and you. Who could tell you no and push you away?"
Copter quickly chimes, "We will be right there too. We won't let anything happen to you. I promise as your cousin and as a luna. Our pack will support you, along with me."
I look into Colton's concerned eyes. Doubt swirls through them and pulls at my heart.
My wolf howls and the painful sound echoes through my head.
I struggle to find the magic word which will make this all go away, but nothing comes to mind.
Bas's office door suddenly flies open and the Supreme Elder shuffles into the room. "Colton, my child, don't let fear keep you from doing what you are destined to do. Our lives are constantly full of turmoil and hardships. If you let this obstacle defeat you, you are letting down not only yourself but Kimmon's pack, too. The next generation will be faced with decisions and choices, much like previous generations. If you bow down to this, the next generation will be left with a massive disadvantage, which may alter the balance of power between good and evil. Do you want to risk the future of the werewolf world because of your crippling fear of not being good enough?"

Colton POV
Her words slice right through me and break something within me.
I thought I had been completely broken after everything I've been through over the past few years and months, but I was wrong. The thought of future generations being potentially harmed because of my decision does something to me.
My wolf whimpers, "Our pups."
Those two words hammer together my shattered courage. I can't doom our pups to a life they weren't met to have because I ran from Kimmon and his pack. Or worse yet, I took Kimmon away from his pack, who needs him.
My head throbs as the reality of the situation slams into me.
I haven't been in my cousin's pack for too long, but I know the Supreme Elder's words almost always come true. I don't want to be the one who tests them and finds out I'm wrong. That isn't fair to our pups.
My heart warms with the thought of our children. For several years, the only thought I had was to see Curt again and get away from Isaac, but I never once thought about our future family. Not even when I finally accepted Kimmon had I thought about our future family. The only thought that had crossed my mind, but only in passing, is his need for an heir. That was it.
Shock and joy wash over me. I'm going to have a family.
My stomach flutters as a faint smile etches onto my face.
I stare into the Supreme Elder's eyes. The wrinkles around them document her years of experience.
Silently, I plead with her for assurance my wolf is correct.
Will Kimmon and I have a family and children?
A light suddenly shines in her tired eyes, but she doesn't respond.
Is that my answer? I need to know.
