Chapter 1
For years Serentia and Quartine, Carata's largest kingdoms, have been at war. Each side was wasting resources; soldiers were killed and injured every day, and fear struck each kingdom every hour. As time grew longer, the children of the royal family grew older, and the kings made an agreement where one son from each kingdom was to be wed to become the symbol of peace.
In this case, it was High Prince Choi Seungcheol of Quartine and Young Prince Seungkwan of Serentia. The oldest prince of Quartine and the second youngest prince of Serentia were arranged to be married for the sake of the peace of the 2 kingdoms. However, Serentia's High Prince, Seungkwan's oldest brother Jeonghan wasn't having it.
"What do you mean Seungkwan's getting married?! Father, he just came of age!"
"It is for the peace of both kingdoms Jeonghan, he must do it." The king monotonously said.
"Why?"
"One of you has to get married, Jeonghan. In this case, it's Seungkwan" Avoiding the question the king repeated his answer.
"Again. Why father?" The prince asked sharply.
"It's for the good of the kingdom, my children. We are left with no choice."
"There must be another choice, there must be! Anyone but Seungkwan!" Jeonghan bargained. He simply can't let his second youngest brother marry at such a young age.
"There is."
"What?"
"You."
"All due respect father, we can't have hyung marry Quartine's prince either, he's the next heir." Attending Prince Wonwoo, the second born, pointed out.
"Exactly my point dear son, as Jeonghan is the future king, he can't marry Quartine's prince unless he abdicates the throne."
"Then I'll do it."
"What?" The king's eyes widened.
"You heard me, father, won't it just make more sense when the supposed to be king of Serentia is to be married to the crowned prince of Quartine for peace? The treaty would make more sense, Quartine people would most likely be glad that Serentia is taking this treaty more seriously with Serentia having its crowned prince marry off to their crowned prince, and our people will understand because this is me, their crowned prince, doing everything that it takes to protect the country and its people '' He argued.
"But Hyung, the country still needs you, who will proceed after father if you leave?" Prince Seokmin, twin brother of Prince Wonwoo, worriedly asked his brother.
"Seokmin's right Hyung, if you go, we will have peace but lose the next king." Jihoon the fourth Prince pointed out.
"Wonwoo." Jeonghan looked at the 2nd prince sharing a knowing look as if he was saying something.
"Hyung?" Wonwoo was surprised by his brother's decision.
"As I trained the past years, you are the one who's with me, if there's someone who knows the same thing taught to me, and even better, it's you Wonwoo."
"Jeonghan, are you even sure about this?" The king asked his son.
"Yes, father, I'll do it. Better be me than Seungkwan." Jeonghan said, eyes filled with determination.
"Hyung, it's okay... I can do it." Seungkwan mumbled.
"Kwan-ah, you're still young, you still have a lot to learn and explore, hyung can do this hmm? It's okay." Jeonghan comforted Seungkwan who was on the brink of tears. He then faced his father.
