"He came but left before dinner." Anni-Frid explained. This morning, the first thing she did was come to see Agny, who seemed quite tired to tell the truth, as if the light in her being had suddenly moved out. Even so, she remained optimistic. Anni-Frid was telling about her visitor from las night at which Agny showed herself enthusiastic, as every time it came to Benny.

"Why didn't you invite him to stay?" Agny asked from the bed. Even lying down and pale she gave off strength and even authority.

Anni-Frid, playing with her hands, let out a long breath. "Aunt Olive invited him over, but Benny insisted that it'd be better another time."

Agny half smiled. "That boy is very considerate. He's a good one, daughter."

"I know," she smiled back, her cheeks turning a pretty red. "He hopes to see you soon. For now, he sends his best wishes."

"Thank you, my heart."

"Also..." she began, a little unsure. "His mother is throwing a party for him this afternoon, and I was invited." From the first moment Anni-Frid was sure that she would attend, but now being in front of her grandmother, seeing her fragile, she felt guilty for even considering going out and having a good time.

"And? Have you found something nice to wear yet?" She said animatedly. Anni-Frid, still staring at her hands unable to look at her face, just shook her head. "Daughter..."

"I want to go, Mormor. But..."

"No buts allowed here." She cut her off. "Anni-Frid, I'm not going to break."

Anni-Frid finally looked up at her again, wished she had the same conviction as Agny, but she saw her worn out on a hospital stretcher, since then she lived in constant fear of losing her. Not to mention that Olive intended to take her back to Norway. "You can't blame me for worrying. What happened to you is very serious."

"But I am fine." Agny insisted. "I am here, recovering. When you least expect everything will return to normal. For now, continue with your plans, I wouldn't want you to leave everything aside for me. I would only feel worse."

It was funny how she felt the same about Agny, that's why she understood her. "I would try not to take so long."

Agny effusively shook her head in a clear gesture of disapproval. "Take your time. What's more, I don't want to see you here before ten o'clock, if so, consider yourself grounded!"

"Oh woman!" Anni-Frid giggled. It resulted almost pathetic how Agny, despite adversity, didn't lose her shine. She was, indeed, her favorite person.

As agreed, Benny picked her up at 4 PM. The weather outside was still cold and gray, in fact, the sun was shining its last rays, the days in winter did not last long. Despite that, the atmosphere inside the car was warm, electrifying and magical. The Beach Boys played softly on the sound system, the heater kept the space comfortable, and the two little dice dangling from the rearview mirror moved slightly to the beat of the car. In the driver's seat, Benny drove carefully with any possible snow or oil that might be strewn on the road. From time to time it was difficult for him to concentrate as the beauty sitting next to him made him gasp every time his eyes managed to catch a glimpse; Anni-Frid looked so beautiful in her cute red corduroy dress with long black boots, her half-ponytail hair falling down her back in soft waves, her eyes holding a special sparkle; How on earth could he concentrate when she threatened to steal his breath? He felt blissful and proud to have her by his side, to be chosen by her. It was as if he were under a spell; she was the sorceress and he her faithful servant.

"Is it alright this warm?" he asked referring to the temperature in the car.

Anni-Frid looked away from the road. "Yes, it's okay." She responded with a smile. "Where do we go?"
