Bailey woke up at promptly 6:30, as she does every morning. She was slightly hungover, so she grumbled and rolled over in bed, stopping her alarm with no intention of falling back asleep. She kept her eyes closed as she thought about last night, remembering getting there, drinking some, and playing truth or dare- then she got a ride home... from Lily. Bailey's eyes shot open, grabbing her phone to make sure the memory of getting this girl's number was not false. She scrolled through her contacts, stopping when she saw one titled 'girl from the party :)'
Bailey just smiled, hesitantly clicking on it. Yep, the correct area code. She thought back, remembering her name, her smile, her hair, the bracelets littereing her wrists and necklaces dangling on her chest. I should ask Autumn what to do now. She thought, then decided to get up and start her day. Bailey went into her and Autumn's shared bathroom, brushing her hair and teeth and then going back to her room to get dressed. Bailey had a pretty limited closet, but Autumn was always envious of how she dressed. Bailey wore baggy sweaters with white collars, sometimes leggings or skinny jeans, but most of the time she would wear baggy jeans with holes in the knees. Along with very simple, but beautiful makeup, her outfit would be complete in 20 minutes.
Autumn, on the other hand, Bailey was jealous of her style. Autumn wore cargo pants or baggy jeans, most of the time; no holes. Must be a childhood thing, Bailey suspected. She wore a baggy band t-shirt or any type of shirt you could imagine was bought from Spencers, and every once in a while an oversized flannel. Getting makeup on Autumn was a nightmare, Bailey had experienced. Every Halloween: "C'mon, just some blush?" and Autumn's response would always be sarcastic, "I need to keep my skin natural so I can keep glowing and die beautiful". Her beat up Converse never changed, while Bailey had a choice of five different shoes for different days; not including dress shoes.
Neither of them were overly girly, or overly masculine for that matter. They were just the perfect amount so that no one really knew if they were gay or straight, or anything in between. Not that it bothered either of them. Autumn had experimented, and she wasn't ashamed. She would do it again in a heartbeat. Bailey had also experimented with guys, and it's not that she didn't like it, she would just always find herself staring at girls while she went shopping at the mall. There was no denying that if it came down to a choice, Bailey would pick the girl and Autumn would pick the guy.
As Bailey got dressed, her mind continued to drift off to these random thoughts about her friendship with Autumn. They had met when they were both 18. Autumn had just moved out, and Bailey was getting ready to go to college. One day, Bailey walked into a resturant/diner called Frontier on the corner of Ramblewood Ave. and Border St. in downtown Florida. Bailey hopped in the line of two, waiting to order and deciding what she wanted. As she waited, the person in front of her got called up, so Bailey stepped forward. As she was reading the menu she heard an overlapping conversation
"I- don't have another dollar- I'm sorry, but I really need this right now" The girl ordering said. The cashier seemed to be having none of that
"If you can't pay, you can't get the food" He said rather harsh. "Get lost"
Bailey frowned. Just one dollar? The girl continued to argue, but it didn't take long for Bailey to interrupt. "I can cover you" She said, pulling out a dollar from her wallet and handing it to the cashier, shooting him an obviously fake smile. The cashier took it grudgingly and put it into the cash register, handing back a few cents but Bailey let the girl take it. Even though it was small, it was something. Then, Bailey started ordering "And I'll have a breakfast burrito and a fountain drink" she said, handing the cashier her card.
