trigger warning: violence and death
- asher's pov -I got in the passenger seat, put on my seatbelt, and looked straight ahead. "Uhm, so where do you live exactly?"
Heaven started the car and put the car into drive, taking her time. "A 20-minute drive" she shrugged. Long car ride just for a New Year party, I thought. I pull out my phone and start scrolling through my Instagram feed. I saw a Christmas post from my sister, Ashley. The caption read 'a very merry christmas this year :)' and the post was just a few slides with Curtis and Liam together, opening gifts at my parent's house. I smile softly, liking the post. "Whatcha doing?"
I glance over at Heaven, who was strictly watching the road. Something was off. I put my phone away "Just checking any messages I've missed"
"What did they say?" She questioned, turning off the street and onto the main street next to my house.
"Just a Happy New Year from my sister" I lied, leaning into the car seat and trying to relax. I want to let my guard down, but I can't. I won't let myself. The car ride was rather silent, halfway there Heaven got on the Interstate. Just about 20 minutes later, she exited. I knew where we were, there was nothing out here. A pretty bare part of town, I've always thought. A small neighborhood and a gas station, that was the extent of it, along with a small forest- an area that aligned with a river. This is the way I go when I'm going to my parent's house. Through this small area then back onto another main street and it gets me all the way there. I glance at the clock.

"It's almost midnight. Are we going to celebrate?" I ask, trying to make conversation, then decided to say what I knew she wanted to hear. "The whole tradition of a kiss at midnight?"
Heaven smiled and made a slight right turn, leading us to the small forest area. I was getting nervous. "That sounds nice, we're almost there," she said in that same monotone voice from the party. I'm creeped. I don't like this. I pull out my phone, hoping to be able to text Nick "Hey, put your phone away. I don't like not having your attention" she snapped, glaring at me. There were barely any cars on the road at this hour. Everyone was waiting for the New Year countdown, what would you be doing out?
I paused, then slowly put my phone in my front pocket. I glance in the review mirror and see a car a little ways back, going a little slower than we were. They were getting further and further away. I look back in front of us as we passed the sign "SUNKEN FOREST PARKING AHEAD".
I look over at Heaven, "Where are we going?"
Heaven stuttered slightly before answering "There are fireworks that they do at midnight. I wanted to watch them."
I didn't say anything, just glancing at the review mirror and still seeing that same car behind us. I got a chill down my spine, feeling the hairs on my neck start to rise as Heaven pulled into the Sunken Forest parking lot, which was vacant. She turned right, cruising through the empty parking spots and going all the way to the corner. My heart sped up, and I felt my palms start to sweat. I could hear my heartbeat getting faster and faster, feeling as if it was about to hop out of my chest and run away. I rub my clammy hands together, trying to relax and have the confidence I should. Is this how Jasper felt?

Heaven parked the car in a parking spot close to the trees. "Wanna take a walk?"
"No," I said and shook my head "I- I actually have a question for you"
Heaven shifted to face me. Her eyes were looking deep into my soul. "What is it?"
I tried to figure out how to start this. I decided to go with what I was most skeptical about. "Who was your last boyfriend?"
