Lexi scoffed openly giving herself a moment to calm down before her temper got the better of her. Of course Jake was staring at Bella. Bella was the more admired sister, guys always gawked at her and girls envied her. For whatever reason that was Lexi never knew. She had just hoped it would be different for Jake considering all the time the two had spent. It should have been different with him but it wasn't and it only served as a reminder to the painful memories of Lexi's past. The young brunette took out her phone shooting a quick text to Paul, Missing you. Bella's home and I already feel bad. <3 Lexi
It pinged back almost immediately. She didn't look at it though, pocketing her phone and taking a deep breath before walking next to Charlie and Billy. Well if Jake wanted to talk to Bella then she wouldn't stop him. As she walked over there a pleasant smile held her features. She extended her arms to pull Billy into a huge hug, making the older man smile.
"Alex I've missed you!" He exclaimed. "Your old man here keeps hogging you all to himself. I heard about dinner tonight, you know how much I love your cooking."
Lexi allowed herself to calm down even more at his words. "I'm making enough for everyone."
She turned to face where Bella was standing. This bitch, she thought. Bella was paying no attention to anyone else besides Jacob and Jacob was eating it up with a huge grin. No greeting for her sister and poor Charlie was standing there unsure of what to do.
She simpered in place, not wanting to believe this was real. There was no way that Jake would do her this way. She would wake up and realize this was a bad dream, only it wasn't and she once again had to put herself last for Bella.
If it wasn't for a couple reasons, mainly involving the fact she didn't want to make things hard on Charlie she would have knocked her older sister out by now. Luckily for Lexi though she went to school on the reservation with Jake. She only really had to deal with her at home.
Breathe I can do this.
Lexi scoffed, excusing herself from Billy to walk over to Bella now. She wanted to try to remain civil for as long as possible. She just didn't think that would be long considering Bella was flirting with Jake.
"Jake!" The youngest exclaimed, hugging him without hesitation. She wanted to show Bella that this was her territory, Forks, Jake all of it was hers. It had been for almost sixteen years and it would remain that way.
"Alex!" The enthusiasm reached his voice as he hugged her back tightly, his arms reaching across her lower back. He smelled like forests and car oil. It made her feel calm, it was a scent she was accustomed to and she needed any amount of normal she could get right now.
"Alexia." Came the cold voice of her sister. Her tone was icy and rude. She wasn't even trying as she made sure to place the emphasis on her sister's full name.
She really has a death wish, Lexi thought but shook her head. "Ya know I was told you prefer Bella so if I can respect that then you can respect my feelings and use Lexi instead. Dad doesn't need you making things harder on him just be civil and I'll do the same." She informed calmly pulling away from Jacob's embrace now.
Bella stood there in shock. Lexi had never really stood up to her before and now here her little sister was giving her a run for her money. "Listen I-I..." she started to stutter, words blurring into nonsense. Lexi had to hide a laugh.
"Don't let the heat thaw out your icy personality Bella, you're not in Phoenix anymore. You're in Forks and I'm not the same little girl you used to push around."
Her eyes blinked rapidly as she tried to process a comeback, coming off short she rolled her eyes and walked over to Billy and Charlie.
Lexi smirked as she realized she had gotten her sister away from Jake after all. But the look in his eyes made her wonder if she really won at all. His usually warm brown eyes showed a hardened glare at Lexi and his entire facade was cold.
