it's not very easy to sneak past max. she knows and sees everything. 
el leaned down to max's shoulder, bella laid comfortably on her lap as dusin reached over to pet her. 
a yawn broke out from bella, causing el to smile just a little at the sight before sitting up straighter. 
"i gotta use the bathroom," max said and then turned to el. "do you?"
she shook her head and max nodded before standing to leave. 
el's head turned, noticing dustin's bag next to hers and using bella, she carefully snuck the envelop out and into his bag. 
she knew dustin well enough to know that bag won't be checked for days.
after she successfully placed the envelope in, she brought bella back into her arms and hugged her tightly to her chest. 
bella perked up, licking her nose but in a gentle way like she was giving el a kiss. 
dustin gave bella a rough pet, causing el to give him a look with a small pout. 
"sorry, i'll be gentle," he apologised to her and lucas snickered. "yeah, dustin. gentle."
el tapped dustins arm with was more like a touch, making dustin turn to her and nod. 
"like.. this.." she whispered, petting bella and showing him how. "ge— gentle,"
he nodded, following in suit as lucas chuckled, pointing a finger at dustin as he laughed. 
"hey, at least el wants to teach me," dustin shot back as max came back to the table. 
el went to lean into her ear. "dustin.. not gentle wi— with bella,"
max sent her the softest smile, pulling her in for a side hug with both hands before glaring at dustin. "learn to be more gentle,"
"i am trying!" he exclaimed and max just looked down at el, pressing a small kiss to her temple before whispering. "i love you,"
el turned to lean closer into the crook of her neck, yawning before murmuring right by her ear. "love you,"
