Peter's POV:
I had a plan.
I was going to take Y/n to meet the Avengers today.
I was just waiting for her to get out of her last class and then we would go. They didn't know that she was Shadow, but they all wanted to meet her anyway.
I wasn't actually planning on telling them about her, but surprise surprise, Mr. Stark couldn't keep his mouth shut and ended up blabbing to the rest of the team.
Every time I had gone over last week, all I had heard was:
"So Peter, what's this about a girl?"
"How's the girlfriend, Pete?"
"When's the wedding Peter?"
It was becoming insufferable.
She didn't even like me, she didn't even know that I liked her! But it didn't matter anyway because I had told her that they just wanted to meet one of my friends.
It was then that I spotted Y/n walking down the hallway in her favorite baggy jeans and a hoodie.
God, I loved her name. 'Y/n' Have you ever met someone whose name just perfectly describes them? Her name was almost as beautiful as her and every time I heard someone else say it I had to fight to stop a grin from plastering itself on my face.
Shit, I'm whipped.
"Ready to go?" I smiled as she smiled in reply. "Don't be nervous, they're all super nice. Even Mr. Barnes is really fun even though he seems grumpy on the TV..."
"Don't worry, I'm not nervous." She replied, skipping a little to keep up with me since she had shorter legs and grinning in a way that made me wonder if she knew something that I didn't.
There wasn't a ton of space on the train journey so we had ended up holding onto the ceiling rail meaning that every time the train stopped, she ended up pressed into me.
This was not helping my infatuation with her.
As we stepped off just outside the tower, she whispered something in my ear but it was muffled by the sound of the train leaving the station.
"What did you say?" I whispered back, making her laugh.
don't even get me started on her laugh, it's almost as precious as her smile.
"I just said that you can't tell them I'm Shadow. " she answered. "You already know and that's one person too many."
I smiled back, "You don't love me bring you coffee after a long patrol?"
"mmh," She hummed, "maybe it's not so bad..." She replied cheekily as I walked us into the building.
She looked up in awe but all I could do was stare at her gorgeous face.
Ugh, I'm such a simp but let's be honest, I don't care.
"It's an awesome building isn't it?" I said, guiding her into the elevator. She could only mumble in reply.
"Hello, Peter!" Greeted FRIDAY.
"Can you take us to the living room?" I asked as Y/n looked around for the speakers.
"The living room requires Level 10 and I don't see your guest in the system..." She continued.
"It's fine, she's with me." I replied.
I was technically Level 11 clearance, even though as far as anyone else was concerned, it only went up to 10. Mr. Stark didn't trust me to go everywhere but he still wanted me to have access to the Avengers facilities so he created a new Level with new permissions, just for me (and I hoped if I asked him, for Y/n too).
As we entered the living room, the normal silence or gentle chatter exploded. The Avengers might be "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" but they were also practically schoolchildren when It came to gossiping.
"Hi! You must be Y/n!" Said Wanda, politely. She was the first one to actually say hello instead of just shrieking like a banshee.
"Peter! Is this your Lady?" asked Thor quite obnoxiously.
Y/n laughed before addressing everyone gently, "Hi, I'm Y/n,"
They continued to ask question upon question as we went to sit on the couches and Y/n rested her head on my shoulder. Mr. Stark gave me a look and grinned but I just shrugged it off, he was only trying to get my hopes up.
I didn't mind Y/n leaning on me, she had seemed especially tired recently and if she felt comfortable napping on my shoulder then I would happily let her.
And that's exactly what happened, about an hour after their questioning began, I had to ask everyone to lower their voices as Y/n fell into a deep sleep, and soon the only noise was her occasionally mumbling a word or two about a "blue rhinoceros" or a "jammy table".
