Fairystar was walking in the forest, with her apprentice Sparpaw. "Here's the Shadowclan border," she said. "I know," Sparpaw muttered. "What do you smell?" Fairystar asked. Sparpaw sniffed the air. "I smell Shadowclan," he said. "And Peltclaw, but it's an old smell. Maybe from a day or something." "You're right," Fairystar said. "That's weird and it is only Peltclaw, I told him he couldn't go out alone anymore. Not without letting me know." Her facial expression hardened. 'It looks like he didn't listen to me. Not that I'm that surprised,' she thought. "That is weird, maybe he's hiding something?" Sparpaw mumbled. "I'm sure he isn't," Fairystar said. 'But I do think he's is hiding something, he leaves camp a lot and for very long periods. I'm gone talk to him about it,' she thought to herself. "Let's move on to the other borders," Fairystar said. Her apprentice nodded.
Rivertree was laying in her den and Rosewater entered, she looked scared. "What happened?" Rivertree asked. "It's Leafkit," Rosewater answered. "She looks sick." Rivertree sighed. "I'll go look at her," she said. "Can you tell Dawnpaw where I am?" Rosewater nodded and Rivertree walked into the nursery. Seatail laid right next to her kit. "Can you show Leafkit to me?" Rivertree asked. The queen nodded. "She has black cough," Rivertree mumbled, after carefully examining the Leafkit. "Is she going to die?" Seatail asked. "I'm afraid she might," Rivertree said. Deepsea looked at Seatail, with a lot of pain in her eyes. "I know how it is to lose a kit," she said. "I am so sorry Seatail." "She's not gone yet!" Seatail hissed. She pressed her kitten closer against her. 'PoorSeatail,' Rivertree thought.'I'll never know what it is like to loose a kit.' Seatail sighed. "Sorry for hissing at you, Deepsea," she muttered. Deepsea shrugged. "I remember that you were always searching for your kit and refused to give up," Seatail continued. "I thought you were crazy, but now I finally understand." Rivertree saw the pain in Deepsea's eyes. "Seatail," Rivertree said. "I need to take Leafkit to the medicine cats den." "No!" Seatail said. "I need to, Seatail. Before she infects others," Rivertree said. "She's not leaving my side!" Seatail said stubbornly. "Let me at least give her some poppyseed, so she won't feel any pain. Please," Rivertree muttered. "Fine," Seatail said. After giving Leafkit the poppyseed, Rivertree left the nursery. "Hey Rivertree," Lionspot said. "Do you want to share this fish with me? I know you don't really share prey with other cats, only with Dawnpaw." He sighed loudly. "But please share this fish with me." "Okay," Rivertree mumbled. "I will, thank you."
