Elsa's POV
We have several Elf mages with us and the top of their staff is shining brilliantly in the darkness of the tunnel.
Miss Valien stood by the cave-in, just finished kicking on the debris that blocked the entrance Ahh! We're stuck!
I suggested politely to her Maybe there's another exit somewhere deep within. She turned to me, having this angry look on her face! I shrank back, expecting her to give me an angry outburst U-umm...
But she replied calmly Yeah, you're probably right. She looks at the blocked entrance again But getting separated from the others bugs me a little.
She said aloud as to let the others hear her Its not like we could do anything just by staying here. We should head deeper in.
We started walking through the tunnel. To be honest, I'm scared right now that my body is slightly trembling but I don't want anybody to notice.
This place is all dark, before the mages casted their light spell, everything was black that I could feel it swallow me.
To be honest, I'm not afraid of the dark. When scouting back in the Clan, it does get dark on some nights but I could still see things away from me. But in here, I could see nothing at all and it terribly bothers me.
I exhaled and it was shaky from nervousness. Dianne, who is walking beside me, asked Hey, Elsa, are you okay?
I gulped Yeah, I'm fine, Di'.
Really? Because you look pale and sweating.
I answered Yes, a little. Dianne said I'm afraid too, you know? We're in a place we don't know and got separated from the others. But we just have to find an exit so we can see them again.
We walked further and it began to twist and turn. As we proceeded, there's this faint unusual stench in the air.
I don't know how long we've been walking but exhaustion has caught up to us.
Miss Valien commented It's kind of smelly in here.
You noticed too, Valien?
I noticed it earlier but it was just a faint smell. It smells like someone who hasn't taken a bath for days.
The Elf she's talking to said dryly All of us here have not taken a bath ever since.
Now that I'm reminded, he's right.
Miss Valien replied No, it's a different kind of scent, like it is not of an ordinary living thing. It smells dank and has a mix of...I don't know...dirt or fear in it.
The Elf said skeptically Can you smell fear?
Valien grinned Yes, and no.
I removed my bag from my back and rummaged in it. There are still a few pieces of bread left but I'm afraid that they may be moldy now.
Dianne also checked her bag I'm hungry, too.
I look at the Elves and they have no food on them. I took a piece to observe it and, thank goodness, it is still in good shape There's not enough for all of us.
I'm a bit in conflict for it feels kind of selfish to just eat by myself and the others are not.
I gulped for I'm hungry, before I could decide what to do. I heard Miss Valien say to me Hey, Elsa.
I look at her Yes, Miss? She gave me a smile You go and eat that, you need to keep your strength.
I responded But how about you and the others? I then thought to myself Did she read my mind?
