I was almost late to school on Monday because I had had to sprint home, then get ready as fast as I could, and rush to school. I sat down in the drama room just in time. The bell went and Mr Ledeki started calling the roll.

A few people shot me strange looks, but at least I didn't have to stand in the hallway before class and get stared at by everyone. At least half the school were werewolf hunters and I was willing to bet that the other half either had no idea who I was or didn't want to risk their lives trying to kill me. Either way, there was no one in all of Myers Harbour I could trust. Or almost no one.

I knew for sure that Ryan hadn't been there last night. I hadn't seen him and his scent hadn't been in the room either.

And most of the people I had seen were from MHHS, not Myers Prep, so maybe that half of town was out of the loop. That, or they weren't interested in killing for sport. Either way, I thought I could trust Liam, too.

A lot of the class was away. Garrett and Chase were sitting on the far side of the room and Bree, Sasha, and Mandy were all absent.

In maths, Mr Walsh droned on and on about implicit differentiation and differentiating with respect to x. I knew I shouldn't have zoned out, but I did anyway. I think I fell asleep for part of the lesson because I was so tired, but I couldn't have been asleep long because none of my classmates had seemed to notice.

In P.E., Riley hung around with Lachlan and Garrett. I spent the lesson alone and luckily we didn't have to do anything in pairs or groups.

After the lesson in the change rooms, I tried to talk to Riley. We had arrived there last and everyone else had already left. She was rushing and didn't seem to like being alone with me.

"Hey." I smiled at Riley, hoping she would ignore my kidnapping like I was.

She looked at me uncertainly. "I don't think I'm supposed to be talking to you."

"Says who?"

"Bree, Mandy, Sasha, Garrett, Chase, Lachlan, Nick. Basically everyone."

"Or what?"

"Or I'll end up dead."

My eyes widened. "What?"

"Sympathisers are worse than werewolves, so the punishment is more severe. I can't talk to you. Sorry." Riley left quickly.

By lunchtime, I was genuinely surprised that no one had attacked me yet. Everyone knew what I was and I knew they wanted to kill me, but they were too afraid to do it in front of people who didn't know.

I sat by myself in the Forester Building, eating my packed lunch. I had eventually decided to pack my own lunch like so many of my classmates did. I wouldn't want to get baned by the lunch lady.

In English, I sat with Claire. Or, more accurately, she sat with me. We had talked a bit during rehearsals for West Side Story and she was really nice. I didn't think she was a hunter, so that was nice. I needed a few minutes when I could relax and not fear for my life.

After school, I ran home. I didn't want to walk in case I was being followed. When I got inside the house, I slammed the door shut and locked it behind me. All this hunter business was making me paranoid.

I could barely sleep that night. I still hadn't managed to get the first bullet out of my shoulder, and now there were more. They weren't healing because they had wolfsbane in them, and I couldn't reach them to take them out. They would have to stay there until I could find a way to remove them.
