"If Klaus finds out you did this to his brother, he will kill all of you!" Dakota panicked. She was never close to Alaric. She never had the same connection her friends had with him. It was unclear why they were actually so close, now she knew why. Dakota was deep down pissed that the high school history teacher was in on their little secret but left her out all this time.

"Not when he's dead." Alaric said as he proceeded to carry out Kol's desiccated body towards the door.

Dakota, confused and panicking, flickered her gaze between him and Meredith before she spoke. "What?"

"The original family, they're all linked by their mother. So when she kills one, down goes all of them." Alaric explained to her.

Dakota found herself at a crossroad. She didn't want Klaus to die but she didn't want her other friends to fall victim in his hands too. The three paths ahead of her would have different outcomes that would affect everyone involved in the long term. The first path was letting them execute their plan. She wouldn't do anything to interfere. All of the Mikaelsons will be dead. The second path was alerting Klaus somehow, and it would lead to him killing everyone in sight. The third path was undaggering Kol, hold on to the dagger, and threaten Alaric and Meredith so they'd run before Kol could wake up and kill them.

The redhead made a choice as they were going out the door. The coat on her shoulders fell when she ran toward Kol's body with the intention to remove the dagger, only to be flung to the side and pinned down on the ground.

Dakota met the irritated icy blue eyes of the vampire who was holding her down. Her hair was sprawled underneath her head, her body was shivering from the damp concrete against her back. Dakota attempted to break free from Damon's grip but as expected, he was too strong.
