"Donghyuck dear, are you comfortable here?" Mr. Lee asked with a warm smile.
"Yes, Apa, I'm adapting well," Donghyuck replied with a polite smile.
The "family dinner" had finally arrived. After unpacking his clothes, he had taken a nap, as he hadn't gotten much sleep the previous night. Minhyung had woken him up in the evening with a phone call.
Minhyung had called to inform him that he and his dad were on their way back from the office.
After the call, Donghyuck showered and dressed decently.
For him-
He shook off the thought quickly. No, he was doing this to avoid embarrassing himself in front of Doyoung hyung and Apa.
"Good. If anything bothers you or someone-" Mr. Lee's gaze flickered to Minhyung for a moment before returning to Donghyuck with a kind smile, "-then feel free to let me know."
Donghyuck's polite smile faltered for a second, but he quickly composed himself and nodded.
"Let's eat, then!" Doyoung chimed in cheerfully, clapping his hands together.
The dining table was filled with a variety of Korean dishes, and the atmosphere was warm and lively. Doyoung kept the conversation going with occasional jokes and stories, which the others joined in on while eating.
Except for Minhyung, who silently placed food on Donghyuck's plate from time to time. Initially, Donghyuck wanted to refuse, but with Doyoung and Mr. Lee present, he held back and simply ate what was given.
Halfway through the meal, Doyoung suddenly exclaimed, making everyone pause and look at him.
"What's the matter, Doyoung?" Mr. Lee asked curiously.
Doyoung sheepishly scratched the back of his neck. "Oh, I forgot something important."
He stood up, pulled an envelope from his jacket, and handed it to Donghyuck.
Donghyuck hesitantly took it. "...What's this, Doyoung hyung?" he asked, glancing at the plain white envelope.
"It's my wedding gift to the newlyweds. Open it!" Doyoung said, grinning widely.
Confused, Donghyuck opened the envelope to find two airplane tickets inside.
"Plane tickets?" Minhyung asked, his brows furrowing as he glanced at the tickets in Donghyuck's hand.
Doyoung nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, my dear brother. Two tickets to Japan for your honeymoon!"
Donghyuck froze, his eyes widening slightly. Honeymoon?
"Yes, honeymoon," Doyoung confirmed happily. "You'll leave in three days. I also booked a suite at YW Hotel for a week. Enjoy yourselves, and you're welcome!"
"That's a thoughtful gift, Doyoung," Mr. Lee said approvingly.
Meanwhile, both Donghyuck and Minhyung were left speechless.
There was no way Donghyuck was going on a honeymoon with him.
Under the table, Donghyuck subtly kicked Minhyung's leg, forcing him to react.
"Hyung, I'm busy with work," Minhyung said quickly, his voice firm. "I can't afford to take time off. We'll go some other time."
"I'm not taking no for an answer," Doyoung replied, crossing his arms. "It's just a week, and the company won't collapse in your absence. Right, Dad?"
Mr. Lee nodded in agreement.
Minhyung sighed in defeat.
Seeing him give in so easily, Donghyuck furrowed his brows. How could he just accept it like that?
"Doyoung hyung, Minhyung is really busy, and I don't want to disrupt-"
"Donghyuck dear," Mr. Lee interrupted, "this is a gift from your brother-in-law, and you shouldn't decline it. Understood?"
That was the final nail in the coffin.
Donghyuck forced a smile and nodded.
Congratulations, Donghyuck. You're now stuck going on a fake honeymoon with your fake husband. Wonderful.
---
Later, as soon as Minhyung entered their room, Donghyuck confronted him.
"How could you give in so easily?" he demanded.
Minhyung dropped onto the sofa with a tired expression. "There was no other choice. Don't misunderstand-I have zero interest in going on a honeymoon with you."
"As if I'm interested!" Donghyuck snapped. "Don't flatter yourself."
Minhyung smirked lazily but didn't respond. Instead, he pulled a paper from his bag and handed it to Donghyuck.
"What's this?" Donghyuck asked, taking the paper.
"A marriage contract. I drafted it before the wedding. If there's anything you want to add, let me know."
Without waiting for a response, Minhyung stood and walked toward the wardrobe. He frowned slightly when he noticed how much space Donghyuck's clothes had taken up but said nothing.
"I'll shower first. Look it over and sign it if you agree," he said, grabbing his pajamas and a towel before heading to the bathroom.
Donghyuck hummed absentmindedly, his attention now on the contract.
It felt excessive to him. Did they really need a legal document? Still, he scanned it:
1. Duration: 1 year and 3 months.
2. Physical interaction only when necessary.
3. No invading each other's privacy.
4. No contact after the contract ends.
When he reached the final clause, he scoffed aloud:
No involvement of romantic feelings for the other party.
Does he seriously think I'd fall for him?
Donghyuck grabbed a pen and signed the paper without hesitation.
When Minhyung returned from the bathroom, he noticed the signed contract on the table.
"No objections, I see," he remarked casually before noticing Donghyuck placing a pillow on the sofa.
Minhyung raised an eyebrow. "You're sleeping on the sofa?"
Donghyuck flashed a sarcastic smile. "No, you are."
"What?"
"This is my bed now. Out of the kindness of my heart, I've prepared a cozy spot for you on the sofa. You're welcome."
Before Minhyung could argue, Donghyuck pushed him aside and jumped into the bed, pulling the quilt over himself.
Minhyung stood there, dumbfounded. "Why should I sleep on the sofa? This is my house, my room, and my bed!"
"It was yours. Now it's ours. And I'm claiming it," Donghyuck replied smugly. "Goodnight!"
Minhyung narrowed his eyes before smirking slightly. Without another word, he climbed onto the bed, leaving a small gap between them.
"What are you doing?" Donghyuck hissed.
"Sleeping. Unless you want to switch places and take the sofa?" Minhyung replied smoothly, turning his back to him.
Donghyuck sighed heavily. "Fine. But don't blame me if you get kicked in the middle of the night."
Despite his earlier threat, Donghyuck couldn't help but feel restless sleeping next to Minhyung. Meanwhile, Minhyung seemed to fall asleep effortlessly, completely unbothered.
After tossing and turning for what felt like hours, Donghyuck finally succumbed to exhaustion, his eyelids growing heavy as sleep claimed him.
