The night came over the academy, and all was silent. A few brave Day Class souls who dared to sneak in at this time have often described the school at night as frightening, haunting, and subliminal. It feels like a different place with a story once upon a time and has become something eerie.
It's always quiet like this, the night hours. During the lectures, between classes, lunch, and even when they're tucked away in the Moon Dorm. Perhaps all Night Class students come from prominent families and that school is serious for them. But in reality, they were bored, and most wondered why they were even sitting in a dark classroom listening to historical events that weren't the slightest bit stimulating. It was so bland that the lectures were more like lullabies to them. But they stuck through coming to class every night because Kaname asked.
As the teacher wrapped up his lesson, he gave one last announcement.
"I must remind all of you to take your tablets when necessary," he said, getting a few of the student's attention. "The Sunday incident resulted from Mr. Lian not taking his tablet and ultimately attacking the disciplinary member, Mizuki Cross." He took a moment to gather the rest of his learning materials. "For the sake of Cross Academy's goal, it's imperative that you all control your urges. It is in your best interest that humans and vampires will live amongst each other in harmony."
With this reminder, the teacher left.
Vampires were around when humans nearly destroyed the world. As humans slowly came together to rebuild, vampires did not want to blend in anymore. Instead, they wanted to rule the world. In their attempt, vampire hunters were born, a worthy defense for the humans who didn't stand a chance.
Centuries ago, the war between vampires and humans was fresh, but nowadays, most humans don't even know of the existence of vampires. And here they are now; a group of vampires learning about it.
Akatsuki let out a bored sigh at what they were told, tired of hearing the same thing repeatedly after sitting in on a boring lesson of learning about something he was not interested in.
"It's not that big of a deal," a girl beside him sighed. She pushed her long, icy blonde hair off her shoulder.
"It's crucial, Ruka," Takuma said, standing beside Kaname, who was reading a thick book. Ruka looked over at him as he spoke some more. "If people get hurt in the process of our negligence, then we could say that this mission the Headmaster has worked so hard to achieve is as good as gone."
"We weren't even the ones to do it," Ruka huffed. "Since when are we supposed to be babysitting teachers?"
"It doesn't matter," a girl said in the first row. "He was a vampire, and his actions make us look bad."
There was a moment of silence; the only sound was Kaname flipping the page of his book. He didn't appear to be listening to anything they were saying, which was typical of him. He didn't even bother to pay attention to lectures. He would sit in his chair by the window on the highest row of lecture desks and say nothing unless necessary.
Although, he appeared just as bored as everyone else here.
"Hopefully, Mizuki is okay," Takuma sighed as he thought of Mizuki from earlier. How much pain she was in and how she looked like she couldn't even think straight. "But, she seems to be pulling through; she looks better than she did a few days ago... Oh! That reminds me!" Takuma shouted with a finger up once he had a recollection.
The blonde male turned to the quiet Kaname, who, again, didn't seem to be paying attention to anything around him, not even when Takuma leaned over him and obstructed the moonlight from the book.
"Kaname, I was thinking of paying Mizuki a little visit," he said, which caused Kaname to look up from the book and to the floor. "Would you like to join along?"
