Chapter 8: Cleaning House

Start from the beginning

Y/n: (Whisper) Gross.

I duck back down and at the same time, Lee turns around to look at us, but now he has a pillow in his hands. It looks like memory foam.

Y/n: Woah, nice pillow.

Carley: Good luck smothering them to death.

Lee: That's not really what I have in mind.

He looks at me.

Lee: Did you see anything?

Y/n: Other than the walker in the parking lot eating a body, nope.

Lee: Hm.

Lee looks past me and nods.

Lee: We can hide behind that pickup.

I turn around and under the motel, in a little cover area, there is a pickup truck. It's a mix of light blue and white. Once again we all move quickly and quietly over to the pickup truck, but all of a sudden I hear a growl as I turn around and I almost fall back. I manage to catch myself and look ahead where there's a walker laying against a car.

Lee: Are you alright?

I nod.

Y/n: Yeah, just got a little jump scared. I didn't expect that thing to be there.

Glenn looks at Lee.

Glenn: I think you should find a weapon.

Lee: Yeah, I was thinking that, too.

Y/n: You could try the truck.

Lee: Good idea.

Lee stands up and I see him look into the window of the pickup. He tries to open the door to the cab, but I guess it's locked and he kneels back down.

Y/n: What's up?

Lee: Door's locked, but there's an ice pick inside.

Like before, I see Lee look past me and he looks at Carley.

Lee: Get out your gun.

Carley is already holding her gun, as she has been doing the entire time.

Carley: But the noise...

Lee: Just follow my lead; stay right behind me.

Before either of them can move, I look at Lee.

Y/n: What are you doing?

Lee: I'm going to use the pillow to silence the gun's noise.

I look at Lee for a moment, not saying anything, and all of them look at me.

Glenn: Uh, what's up?

Y/n: That's not going to work.

Lee looks at me as he holds the pillow in his hand.

Lee: Are you sure?

Y/n: My grandpa owned a few guns and used to use them all the time. Believe me, I can tell you with one hundred percent accuracy that there's no way that'll work. But if you can keep it from moving... I could help.

Lee nods and looks at Carley.

Lee: Stay back with Glenn. Keep an eye out.

Carley nods and we approach the walker; the walker leans forward to try and grab us, but Lee puts his foot on it's chest and I make a finger gun. I hold my hand up and without making any noise I use my power.

Y/n: (Mind) Fire gun.

I shoot the walker in the head using my move and it falls to the side; it's arms and mouth now limp. Lee and I look up toward the second floor of the motel and the walkers didn't notice it at all.
