"hi," he smiled as she approached him. she looked up and he opened his arms. "can i hug you?"
she waited a moment before moving into him for a quick second. 
then, she pulled back and he let out a smile. "where's bella?" he asked, leading her into the class. "and your friend?"
she leaned in then said quietly. "bella.. home. lucas, sick," she mumbled, sitting down in her usual spot and he sat next to her. 
he nodded, pulling out his stuff as she pulled out a book instead. 
"what's the book?" he asked her and she weakly shrugged, showing him the cover before leaning in. 
"i'm trying.." she barely said and he had to lean even closer to hear her. 
"trying what?" he asked her and she shrugged again before pulling back.
"your grammar has been getting better though," he said. "your texting.. is more detailed."
her eyes lit up for a second and he nodded at her. 
she whispered into his ear. "code,"
"you're not a code anymore," he smiled, pulling her close from the side and she gently leaned down to his shoulder. 
"bucket.. list.." she mumbled and he nodded. "i know, i remember. show it to me,"
she glanced around them before she pulled out a crumbled sheet with extremely messy and vague handwriting on it. 
slowly, she handed it over to him and he squinted his eyes and scanned over it. 
1. go back home.. hawkins..?
2. visit orphanage .. maybe ?
3. learn swim 
4. say what i want
5. spend time with max .. last 
6. write note

"i don't get this one," mike pointed to the fourth one, "and this and this," he pointed to the fifth and sixth one. 
he watched her slowly blink, staring at the paper. 
"i mean, i can take you back to hawkins during break. i don't know what orphanage you're talking about but i can take you,"
she waited a beat before whispering, "hawkins," 
"the hawkins orphanage? i'm not sure if it's still there," he said and she looked down to her lap, her hands beginning to fidget. 
he noticed, and quickly went to say. "but hey, we can still go. i can teach you how to swim as well."
she nodded slowly then leaned into his ear. "four.. say what.. i think,"
"so you want to learn how to say how you truly feel?" he asked and she quickly nodded at how she instantly got what she meant.
