Christmas Special!

HAVE SOME MERRY JOY!

HAPPY NEW VOTE!

Christmas music filled the air from their old radio, a Christmas cd placed inside and playing the song's promised on the back of the case. They had three cd's to play as the month passes on and they only needed background sound.

The sun high enough even if the grumpy depths of Gotham and their apartment was lit up enough to decorate without having to turn on any other lights. The box of decorations gathered between them over the many years of their life. The box mostly filled by decorations collected by one of them more than both since the youngest had only bothered with the holiday during his days in the manor before his death.

The other had to start re-collecting a few bits after losing Blüdhaven and his life there. The scar was still sore, and Christmas would sometimes fill him with sadness as he wasn't able to use the few rare Christmas belongings that his parents or the circus had owned. He didn't only lose his home once again that night but some of the last bits of belongings that held a connection to his parents and life in the circus.

It's why the youngest of the two don't complain as much as he should when a few homemade decorations from the rest of the bat clan make their way onto the tree or around the house.

It's the first full weekend of December. The day of Christmas decorations going up and the joyful spirit finally seeping into their bones as they step closer to the magical day of the 25th. Old jokes over having their very own Jesus in their clan being forgotten as more of them loses their life and only a handful returning with them again later on.

It was their first Christmas together, really together. They've been dating for years before but never held their own place or stable grounds before. They had safe houses, their own apartments they'd use as their regular selves but nothing to call their own together.

Even once Nightwing became a regular Gotham vigilante years ago after the Blüdhaven incident. They still didn't really have their own place. It was just one of his safe houses after Bruce had finally allowed him to leave the safety of the manor once it was clear the threat was as much anymore.

This apartment was their own.

The whole "Our" home still left a funny but good feeling in their chests when the say it to each other and ours when being asked over their relationship or current lives.

This would be "Our" first Christmas together.

This would be "Our" first home together.

It was going to be "Our" future from now on.

They knew they'd feel bad for leaving the manor behind on the 25th but they've already left warning over wanting to spend the day together in their own home. Wanting to bruise in their new place with each and every holiday instead of falling into the trap of never actually celebrating it together in their own place.

And that's why the Christmas songs pouring out around them, filling the air as they happily worked as the perfect team. One dealing with the plastic Christmas tree while the other deals with the ceiling decorations. Small Christmas ordainments being placed down there and here by the pair of them to try and make everything seem touched by them alone.

Tree lights plugged in at last, not lighting up much in the midday sunlight but being bright enough to prove they still worked and none of the bulbs have blown since the last time they were used.

And while they left hot chocolates to cool down on their old and second-hand coffee table the youngest made his last cherished and joyful spirit move of the day. Watching the proud smile take over his boyfriend's face as he finally slips the old and worn looking angel at the top of the tree, a family heirloom gifted by Alfred as he knew neither carried one anymore but was fond over such heirloom thoughts.

Slipping his arms around the oldest waist, catching his attention before steeling a warm and meaning kiss from his lips. It wasn't some movie kiss that lasted forever, it was short but sweet and told them both just how loved they were to the other.

Each stood as the other's Christmas miracle, and they both knew it.
