Academy | 3rd Person POV

A couple of weeks have already passed and just like most Kansen though almost every candidate/student left either of their own accords or because they have failed or done something inexcusable

Now the number of students candidates was reduced to 6 candidates (1 Royal Navy, 2 Eagle Union, 2 Sakura Empire and 1 Sardegna) because of that the other navies either send their Kanen back to their respective bases or left them to give additional lessons/Lead After School activities.

Because it was the first time that only such a small amount of candidates were left the High Command decided that the students were free to move around the entire academy not only their respective faction's grounds.

The Two Eagle Union girls quickly started a rivalry with their Sakura counterparts as in every lesson/test/exercise they tried new ways of showing who was better at the same time John(the last Royal Navy candidate) and Juliette (The last Sardegna candidate) instead started a something of a friendship with John teaching the girl some tricks and strategies that helped her during the tests/simulation that now were against AI or Kansen since there weren't enough students for it to be random enough

But when John was done with the Academy's classes his workout routine and helping his only human friend he was the only one that decided to join the chess club led by Peter Strasser and sometimes visited by Friedrich. Currently, John was playing a match against Strasser. Meanwhile, in the corner of the room, two other Kansen were sitting and watching although John didn't sense them. "Who do you think will win Eugen?" Friedrich asked the other spectator

"Seeing how the sessions before turned out I would've said Strasser but" she said as she looked at the pair preparing their cheeseboard "I have a feeling the boy will win," Eugen said as the pair sat down at the table and began

Strasser was playing white and John was playing black

The game started by the book and quickly turned in John's favour as he was able to place his knight in white's corner all the while Strasser was unable to attack as every piece she thought she had captured would end with her losing more pieces than John. In the end, she resigned as John still had two rooks, a knight and a bishop with a pawn that was about to become a queen all the while Strasser was left with pawns the closest one being blocked and the nearest one that had the opening being in the middle of the board.

Strasser: Impressive... You win there is no point in continuing | She said as she stood up for a Handshake

John: Danke Schön | The boy said as she shook the hand | It seems training finally paid off

Strasser: If you continue to Improve maybe you will be able to beat Friedrich

John: I'm not so sure about that

FDG: You shouldn't doubt your abilities child | The Tall woman said as the boy looked back and saw the dark intimidating figure standing just behind him

John: T-thank you I-i won't | He mumbled out as he was shocked to see her | What brings you here today? | John asked as he didn't expect Eugen and Friedrich to be watching him

FDG: It has been so long since a Human more so a child wanted to partake in the game of chess, so when Strasser told me that you have been visiting her for a couple of weeks now, I decided to check for myself.

Eugen: And to think we would see her lose | Eugen said joining the conversation | Just like in all the previous Wargames you made sure to protect your pieces which shows me that you at least know that sometimes you have to lose some to win

John: That is because Chess is the game of sacrifices and outsmarting your opponent by sacrificing a unit the player either forces the opponent to take it or the piece can change from a sacrifice to a spearhead into the enemy... just like my knight in the last game.
