Chapter 27

Sam opens the door of Jiang's study aided by a helpful servant. Sam gives him a big smile as the man goes away.
Servant ( sweetly )- Let me know, Sir if you need something. Zu madam told me to take good care of you.
Sam ( entering the interiors of the study with his sharp eyes darting all over )- Thanks dude but am just fine. I just need some reference papers from here and I will be done...( approaching a delicate tall glass cabinet paneled in wood )....you can go.
The servant nods and closes the door , going away. Sam darts a look behind him at the study's door and jams it. He cuts the glass of the cabinet with his finger carefully , without making a sound and there , he sees what he has been looking for . Kept on a small black velvet pillow is the antique silver object with two feminine figurines crossing swords over a skull. He keeps looking at it for a few seconds as if to make sure that this is for real. He touches it and a sheen of light reflects on his handsome features. He plucks it off the pillow and creates a fake image of the cross to create an illusion that it is still there. He closes the glass case- sealing the glass back with his fingers and holds the cross in his hands triumphantly.
Sam ( smiling )- So long... so long it took to find you...but now, that I have you in my hands... it is showtime...( he raises his hands and closes his eyes )... ASSEMBLE...
And immediately , his men appear in the study - Jack and the two new men who had accompanied him at the engagement party.
Sam ( looks at them with a smile )- It's time.... Jack, Rael and Keith ....at the stroke of the midnight hour , we shall awake Qui Su. She is lying in the property of the Lans ... just as we had planned , okay? We congregate there at ten minutes to 12.... And NO MISTAKE. We get Qui Su alive out of the crypt , without getting into the ways of Mr. Lan , Carmen and Xena.
Rael ( narrowing his dark eyes )- And Lan Yibo?
Sam ( slipping the witch's cross into his heart pocket )- Yibo is busy... or rather somebody is keeping him busy. He has to make a choice today - either save and comfort Zhan or else come and sing ballads with his resurrected girlfriend.
Jack ( worriedly)- What about Qui Su? How do we know what she will do once she is back to life ?...
Sam ( shakes his head )- Chill. Qui Su will do what we want her to do... her love for Lan Yibo is real.. but is it strong?... ( laughs )... sigh! We will see to it. Now, go and be there at the decided hour... ( raises his hand )... without fail . Or else you know what a hellish werewolf I am , hmmm?

The three men bow to him and dissolve into thin air. Sam quickly picks up some papers and whistling to himself un-jams the lock and goes out of the study...

Back in the woods:
Peng is dragging Zhan towards the lake as he screams for help and begs him to let him go.
Zhan ( screaming )- Peng! Have you lost it or what? Let me go!....( wriggling in his grip)...you cannot do this to me. Stop behaving like a monster !... HELP!... LEAVE ME!
