I dried my hair off as I walked down my stairs and entered the living room.

Kurtis was laid across my couch, feet dangling off the armrest and reading his Nancy Drew book.

"Wanna go to the bar tonight?"

"We're not old enough." I tossed the towel at him and cringed when he caught it with his toes.

"We got fake IDs. Plus, we're rich. They'll let us in."

"Fine, but you're buying."

"Rude, but fine. I just got paid from a pretty good kill. Croatian politician."

"What he do?"

"I don't know. Kate just sent me the case and I took care of him."

Kate is his assistant, just like Marcos is mine. Anyone who has information for us sends it to them and they call us. It's pretty useful.

"I like Kate. She's snappy. Doesn't take shit from you."

"She beat me with a broom."

"As she should. Queen."

"Shut up and go get ready."

The music was loud.

But the alcohol was decent.

"He said all that?"

I nodded.

"Still. I don't like him. He can get fucked."

"I know...I'm just saying."

"I refuse. As your older brother, I'll fight him if he comes near you."

"Kurtis. Jordan and Lukas suspected something from the beginning. So did Cindy when I told her. There had to be a tell-tell sign. We missed something."

"I don't give a shit. All I saw was my broken sister, and that's all I need to know."

"Kurt, we've hurt people too, you can't act like he's worse than us."

"You don't even know if he's telling the truth. You said he told you this a few mornings after you guys fucked, what if he just wants you for your body?"

"I know I know..." I finished my drink and a glass of a light brown liquid was placed in front of me.

"Oh, I didn't order this." I tried to push it back with a small laugh.

"It's from that guy over there. He's been watching you since you got here." He smiled.

Ugh.

I turned to where he pointed to thank the guy but stopped when I noticed Gun.

"You wouldn't mean the man in a black suit with sunglasses. Would you?"

"That's the one."

"I wouldn't expect to see him here. He likes more expensive places." I took a swing and blinked. "Wow, that's good. What is it?"

"YN, don't drink that!"

"Why? He paid for it, right?" I asked the bartender who nodded.

"Go ahead and close us out please." Kurtis handed him the card.

I took the opportunity to down the drink and lick my lips.

"YN!"

"I'm not driving!"

"You just welcomed him to come over and chat!"

"No, I just drank a drink!"

"Here's your card. Have a safe ride home guys."

Kurtis gave a hundred dollars tip in cash and we headed out.

"YN."

"I told you he'd come talk to you." He glared.

"Let's just see what he wants."

"Ugh."

Gun looked down at me from his glasses. He glanced at Kurtis then back at me.

"You look nice."

"She says thanks. Let's go, YN."

"I want to talk with YN, leave her alone."

"You don't get to talk to her. Not after what you did."

"YN knows why I did that."

"So do I. I also don't care. As her big brother, it's my job to take care of her. Until we've all discussed this situation, you don't get to look at her."

"YN chooses who she talks to, not you or anyone else. You two aren't even related, you're not her brother."

"Gun! Apologize!"

Kurtis's jaw clenched and he glared at Gun.

"I'm her brother. She is my little sister. And you are nothing. You are nothing to her. Don't come near her, or I'll kill you. I mean it, man, I'll kill you. Come on YN." He took my hand and pulled me along.

I looked at Kurtis. His face was red and he was furious.

I looked over my shoulder at Gun who just stood under the street lamp, watching us walk away.

I shook my head and hurried to keep up with my brother.
