Kevin pov:
I got out of my car, I didn't even bother to take off my helmet. I was so mad, Chase had just cost us the race, a race we badly needed to win.
I walked over to him and got in his face,"What the heck was that for?!" I yelled, Chase looked mad as well,
"You cut my tire! You cost us the race, my team doesn't deserve that." He said pointing his finger at me."Oh really? I cut your tire? You squeezed me into the corner! Your such a little spoiled child. So what if you tire was cut it was your fault suck it up and act like a man! Not sit in front of me and be a sore looser. My team deserves the win, we have worked long and hard. You could have just cost us the playoffs, your perfectly fine in points, we however are not." I said angrily.
"I did not squeeze you into the corner, I left you plenty of room. And since I was taken out by you, I decided to help a teammate. You would have done the exact same." Chase shot right back. I shot some not so kind words back at him while the pit crew and nascar officials slowly separated us. I walked back to my car and pulled my helmet off and slammed it on the car roof.
Chase pov:
As the anger slowly dissipated the exhaustion of the race seeped into my body. Everything was tired, and I felt kinda light headed, man my bed sounded so good right now. I did a couple interviews and started walking towards my hauler, on the way there I saw Kevin. He walked up to me,"I've watched the replays I'm sure you have to, I did not cut your tire." He said, I sighed,
"Yes you did, you came up the race track, and cut my tire. Maybe you should get your eyes checked and then rematch the clip." I said angrily, i would never say that to Kevin under normal circumstances cause I respect him so much, but I'm to tired and out of it to care."Oh how childish Chase." He responded, I sighed and glanced around noticing people filing us,
"Can we please talk without you guys filming?" I asked harshly, my patience with everything running thin. Some people put away there phones but others didn't.
"Stop recording." Kevin says equally as harshly, I rolled my eyes as most people put there phones away, I honestly didn't blame them, Kevin can be pretty scary.I had known Kevin since I was a kid, he always has been a bit of a fatherly figure to me and a lot of other young drivers in the garage. We all respect him and he genuinely cares about everyone and always is quick to offer advise and make sure your okay. However he's also one of the last people you wanna deal with mad because he's as stubborn as a mule.
I sighed and turned back to Kevin, I noticed my head starting to hurt and I felt a bit more lightheaded, I shook it off.
"Wanna talk in my hauler?" I offered wanting to get away from the cameras. Kevin nodded and walked towards my hauler and walked in.Kevin pov:
I walked in and turned and watched chase slowly climb in, I had noticed he was paler then usually, and he seemed slightly out of it. Also he had no filter over what he was saying. I watched him closely as he walked out to a table and sat down. The hauler was empty except for us, I sat down across from him.
"You good?" I asked, he nodded, and pulled out his phone, he pulled up a replay and we both watched it.
"See right there you squeeze me." I point out,
"Well right afterwards you come way up the race track." Chase fires back, he rubs his temple and replays it."Yeah I do come up a bit." I admitted, i watched chase closely, he was definitely getting paler.
"Yeah." He muttered,
"Are you sure your okay?" I ask again, as Chase leans back in his chair and runs a hand threw his messy hair.
"Yeah I'm fine." He says, I don't believe him for a minute."What's wrong? You sick? Tired? Headache? When was the last time you ate? When was the last time you drank?" I peppered him with questions. He sighed in annoyance,
"I'm fine, tired yes but I just raced a couple hour race, I'm fine." He said, I could tell he wasn't being honest.
"I have two kids Chase, I know when somethings not right, be honest what's wrong?" I said firmly,
"Nothing." Chase say he crossed his arms on top of the table and laid his head on them."Yes cause that's convincing me, when was the last time you ate?" I asked, Chase was silent for a moment,
"Breakfast." He said quietly,
"You did the Bristol night race having only eaten breakfast? What did you eat?" I asked shocked,
"Toast." He whispered.I shook my head and rolled my eyes,
"Why didn't you eat?" I asked,
"Forgot, was kinda busy." He said and shrugged.
"You forgot to eat? How much water did you drink?" I asked,
"I drank my water bottle during the race." He said,
"That's it?" I asked,
"Yeah." He replied."So what's wrong?" I asked, standing up.
"Headache, kinda just off, super tired, and very lightheaded." Chase listed, lifting his head from his hands."Your like my eight year old son that doesn't have a clue how to take care of himself, honestly I thought bill and Cindy would have raised you better then this." I said, I walked to the snack bar in his hauler. I grabbed him a Gatorade and a cliff bar, I walked back and placed them in front of him and sat down.
"Eat." I instructed him.Chase stared at it before shaking his head,
"Don't feel like it, I'm just gonna go back to my bus and sleep." He said and stood up. He immediately swayed and almost fell over, I jumped up and steadied him, I gently pushed him back down onto the chair."Yeah no, you are in no condition to walk back to your bus, you won't even make it out of the hauler without passing out, eat and drink. Or else I will call the infield care center." I warned him. He sighed and picked up the Gatorade and took a couple sips, and started eating the cliff bar.
"So you still mad?" Chase asked, I nodded,
"Oh yeah, you better watch out in the future." I warned him, he nodded.
"Yeah I figured, same for you tho, don't expect me to race you kindly." He said. I laughed,
"Wow your really dropping the innocent clean driver act now huh." I said, Chase rolled his eyes.
"At least I had it, you never acted like that, you just go from one fight to another." Chase said laughing."The fans love it. Speaking of fans I don't think I'm even gonna come close to winning the most popular driver award, heck I'm probably giving Kyle Busch a run for his money at the least popular driver now." I said laughing.
"Yeah I have the best fans." Chase said proudly, I rolled my eyes,
"Oh please, all your fans are crazy." I said,
"Nascar is mainly a redneck sport, there isn't a fan that isn't crazy." Chase pointed out.We sat there talking for a bit, before I walked with chase to his bus, just to make sure he didn't pass out on the way, we said goodbye and I walked to my bus.
