My sister had moved to Crescent Valley because of her mate so that's where I headed too. The whole family would be there staying at her new house till the ceremony. I had to bum a lift from the border patrol to get to the city as it was unfamiliar to me. The city was resting down in a deep valley surrounded by tall mountains, cliffs and thick forest. According to my mother it was next to impossible for humans to get down there without the help of a wolf as you could easily get lost. Any cars to and from the city would have to be carefully and slowly manoeuvred through the mountain. However, once I was in the city, I could easily follow the directions my sister gave me.

I waved the patrol goodbye and stepped to the buzzling city streets taking in everything my eyes allowed me. Tall buildings much like the ones in the city where my university was, towered over me and dominated the skyline. The hundreds of glass panels mirrored the surrounding mountains almost camouflaging them to match the majestic nature. I was so busy ogling the shop windows, parks, businesses and houses that I didn't notice the expensive car slowly crawling on my tail. When the hairs in the back of my head stood up I finally turned to see the band of people in the convertible sports car.

"Hey, are you new here? I bet I could show you a good time." Unbelievable. I'm in the city for 10 minutes and manage to attract the idiots immediately. Do I have some sort of beacon on my head? Four buffed men sat in the seats howling, whistling and acting like complete baboons. I rolled my eyes and continued pulling my bag with me ignoring their pleas for multiple blocks.

"What's the matter, beautiful, never had a real man?" Another one of them leaned out of the car trying to catch my attention by flexing their biceps. What is it with men thinking this is okay and somehow attractive? My jerk-radar was flashing red.

"C'mon sugar tits, let me give you a wild ride." Their roaring laughter had me seeing red. Sugar tits? Okay that's it. I dropped my bag on the side walk, took swaying steps towards the car and leaned in so they could get a good look at the owner of the tits they so madly craved for. I gave them a timid smile, fanned my eyelashes theatrically and squeezed their arm muscles while keeping eye contact. Making my voice as sweet and sensual as possible I laid my trap.

"Alright, but I must warn you I like it rough. Oh yeah, I can get really wild. In fact, why don't I show you just how dirty I like to get." They exchanged devious looks between them as if they struck gold with their sleazy cat calls. One of them bit their lip as I snaked my fingers to the back of their thick neck. With one quick move, I smashed their head to the dashboard, then I tugged their head back by their hair and smashed their head again, this time to the windshield and third time to the door I was leaning against. The other three howled and high-fived each other as if this little smackdown was better entertainment than what they had planned on doing with me. Broken nose, bleeding lip and a bruised jaw was good enough mark for me to let go of this sorry excuse of a man and carry on my merry way. I think I heard applause as I turned the corner. Bravo!

Deciding it was best if I didn't let myself get distracted any further I made haste to get to my sister's house. Knowing myself, trouble would always find me. I didn't need any more attention than I already had caught. Making yet another turn I was surrounded by very expensive looking villas and mansions, and at the end of the road, far in the distance I saw the entrance to a large estate. Wow! I didn't have to walk far before I spotted the familiar car of my parents parked at the end of a very neat driveway.

"Bea! Beatrice! Over here! You made it. Oh it's so good to see you." My mother Rosalie rushed to capture me in her open arms. Her golden locks engulfed me and the embrace was warm and full of love. I was shaking and couldn't contain the tears of joy streaming down my face. My father Frank joined us briefly before grabbing onto my bags and carrying them into the very fancy looking house. "I have missed you, my bumblebee."

"I missed you too, mom. I can't believe you moved to Crescent Valley too." I stepped to a grand atrium with a skylight, the walls and floors were white marble and everything had a rose gold trimming. Perfect. Standing there in my black attire had me feeling like the odd one out yet again.

"Well, since the boys moved and now Cece, we saw no reason to stay at Lunar Peak. I'm working as an executive at the best venue in the city. Can you believe it?"

"That's great mom. I'm happy for you." She glided through the house to announce my arrival and I was left starstruck gazing at all the shiny beautiful things on display. Walls had large decorative picture frames full of painted memories, shelves overflowing with books and plants, and trinkets laying on display on top of decorative pillars. I took a glance at a large golden trimmed mirror and desperately tried to tame the odd strands on my head that had gotten loose from the rest. At that moment my sister came in squealing and hooking her arms around my neck. I latched my arms around her waist and pulled her into a bone crushing hug.

"B! Oh my Goddess you came! Perfect isn't it? I'm finally getting mated! I'm so happy! Come, you must see my dress, immediately!" There was no use arguing with her. She had always been the princess. Her slightly tanned skin complimented her light blond locks that had a natural curl to them. Her laugh was so contagious I couldn't help but to smile as she dragged me to the master bedroom and shut the door. I examined her room and noticed it was equally as extravagantly decorated as the rest of the house. White furniture with different shades of pastel cushions filled the room including the large bed with a soft headboard with diamond indents and a large white fur rug on the floor to match. "First things first, obviously you are my maid of honour, and secondly isn't this dress just to die for?"

She had pulled what looked like 100 layers of satin, chiffon and lace out of the closet. A tidal wave of fabric pooled out of the dress bag and shimmered magically in the sunlight. I knew Cece would look absolutely gorgeous in it. She looked amazing in anything she put on, but this dress was out of this world. I let my hand glide over the glittering fabric in awe. She would look like a goddess.

We spent a good two hours in the room catching up and giggling just like when we were younger. Our moment was broken only when someone came knocking at the door. We quickly hid the dress back in the closet and beckoned them to come in. A tall tanned man with light brown hair and brown eyes stepped in. My sister flung herself at him and they exchanged kisses before speaking to me.

"Beatrice, this lovely wolf here is my mate, Royce." She held her hand over his chest and her eyes full of adoration. He too couldn't take his eyes off hers. They looked picture perfect and I made a mental click capturing the moment to the imaginary polaroid. He drew her gaze and held on to her body so attentively it made my chest ache. He tore away from her long enough to shake my hand briefly.

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Beatrice. Please, use our home as your own while you stay here. We are all family here." I had to admit, my sister had found her pot of gold. This man oozed charm and sex appeal. Tall, like most of the wolves usually were, handsome and muscular. He had a profound jawline and thick brows alongside a posture fit for a superhero.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too. Your home is lovely." They ushered me to an equally impressive room as the master bedroom. My luggage had already been placed on top of a dresser. I had a view of a large garden with a pool and a beach. Beach, in the middle of the city? As if she read my mind Cece answered me.

"This is your room, and yes that is a beach. We share a small lake with few other villas including the Alpha estate. Isn't it just wonderful?"

"Yeah, breathtaking." I had to sit down on a lounge chair to catch my bearings. This all was very surreal and glamorous. The betrothed couple left me to unpack and announced that we would have dinner at sundown. At that moment I felt small looking in the distance. On instinct I tried to cover my arms with my sleeves though I wasn't wearing any. Even when my scars had faded long ago, the wounds within would never heal completely. I shivered when the wind picked up again and I could not shake the gut feeling that was summoning butterflies to my stomach.
