September 1st, 1979

Tomorrow was Carrie's first day of school, and I was very nervous for her.
Not long ago, the doctor found out that she had asthma, making it even more worrying.

She had grown to look more like Roger, but I never wanted to see him again, so it was hard for me to even look at her, and that makes me sound horrible, but it's honesty.

I drove her to school but she was crying and screaming the whole journey.
"Carrie! Everyone has to do this and you will get used to it!"
"Noo!" She screamed.
I parked next to the school and undid mine and her seatbelt.
"Carrie, please."
She shook her head as I picked her up and took her out of the car.
She hugged me and cried into my shoulder as we walked into the school.
"Come on Carrie. I'll treat you after school." I said to her, handing her to the teacher. "Sorry." I whispered to her.
"I'm used to it by now." She said, laughing.

After that I had to rush back home, get changed into my work clothes and drive to the café as soon as possible.
I couldn't be late again, my boss would actually fire me this time. My hair was a mess as I was rushing around, and only just made it on time.

The day was long and boring as usual, until I had to serve table 7.
"You ready to-"
"Lucy!"
Roger and Brian.

Roger looked different. His hair was cut shorter, and he dressed differently. More fancy.

"I didn't know you worked here!" Brian said, with a smile on his face.
"I only started recently. Please, I'm not in the mood right now."
To be honest, I would never be. I never wanted to see his fucking face ever again.
"Awh come on. Five minutes at least."
"Fine."
I sat next to Roger as she shuffled to the side, smiling.
"How's Carrie? Where is she?" Who's she with?" Rog asked me.
"Calm down. She's okay, she started school today."
"Can I see her some time?"
That left me speechless.
"I- uhm."
"Just once. I don't want her to never meet her dad."
"I suppose." I said, sighing.
"I've missed you, Lucy."
I smiled at him but said nothing more.

Deep down I knew I missed him, but he was the reason I almost fucking killed my self.
He put his hand on my thigh and almost immediately I stood back up.
"N- Nice talking to you guys again but I need to actually do my job." I wrote down my phone number and address on my notebook and ripped the page out. I placed the paper on the table and Roger took it almost immediately.
"What would you like then?" I said, smiling as if I didn't even know them.
"Two teas, please." Roger said, smirking.
"Coming right up." I said, writing it down and walking away.

It was 4pm, I was already late to picking Carrie up. I was locking up and I got in my car to find the engine wasn't working.
Fuck.
"You need a ride?" Roger said, walking up to my car, with dark sunglasses on.
"No thanks."
"You sure? Sounds like you need it."
"Fine." I said taking my key out and getting out of the car.
He took my hand and I had a bad feeling in my stomach about this.

I had to direct Brian to the school, knowing I was late.
"How many people have you been with while I was gone?"
I looked at him, giving him the hint.
"Really?"
"Yep. What about you?"
"Two. Dominique and Debbie."
"Think you're missing someone."
"Hm?"
"Your car." I said, laughing as Brian let out a small laugh too.
"Oh haha." He said, sarcastically.
"Turn left and then it's just there."
We arrived and I got out of the car and began walking towards the school when I stopped and sighed.
"Come on Rog."
His face lit up and he got out of the car quicker then ever.
We entered the school and Carrie ran up to me as I picked her up.
"You're- You're-" The lady that worked there said, shocked.
"Roger Taylor." He said, smiling.
"Come on." I said, carrying Carrie.
He caught up with me and I finally made conversation with him.
"She looks so much like you, don't you think?" I said, smiling as she buried her face in my shoulder.
"Mhm."
"What's up?"
"The real reason I cheated on you-"
"Yep okay I get it Rog."
"No, Lucy. The reason I cheated on you was because I thought Carrie wasn't mine. I feel like such a shitty person now." He explained.
"Okay." I whispered, as the memories flooded back to me.

We got back in the car and we went back to Brian's.
"Chrissie's out so she won't be here." Brian said, putting the key in the door.
"Your house has changed.. a lot." I said, entering the house.
"Okay well i'm gonna take a piss." Brian said, obviously knackered.
"Wow thank you for that." I said, laughing.
Brian smiled as he went upstairs and Roger took his pink, sparkly converse off.
"Still have them huh?"
"Yep." He said, laughing.
"I miss your long hair." I said, walking up to him until our faces were inches apart.
I tried to play with his hair like I used to, but failed.
"Mummy!" Carrie said, trying to get me to pick her up.
I picked her up and she looked at Roger, confused.
"Hello there!" He said, as I handed him to her. "I'm Roger."
"R-R- Woger."
She still had a hard time pronouncing her "R"s, but it was adorable.
"Close enough."

Later on Roger fell asleep on the sofa hugging Carrie, and it was adorable.
"She's so cute. Not sure quite sure how if Roger's her father." Brian whispered, which made me laugh.
"On a serious note, personally, I wouldn't recommend going back to him."
"What? Why?"
"He....."
"He?"
"He's still with Debbie. This drama is guaranteed to happen again."
"And why would I believe you?" I scoffed.
He looked deeply offended after that, and he said nothing more.

After that we all fell asleep on the sofa, and I woke up with Brian and Roger talking.
"I don't fucking-"
"Roger? What time is it?"
"Like.. 12?"
"I was meant to be at work four hours ago!" I exclaimed.
"Shit I'm sorry. Listen, Lucy."
"What."
"If you live with me again, you won't have to work again."
I stared at him for a few seconds, as Carrie woke up too.
"I almost considered it then." I scoffed, standing up. "Look, Rog. Deep down I know I miss you and love you with my whole heart. But I don't want my heart broken again."
Roger stood up as I kissed his cheek softly.
"Bye you two. Say hi to Deacy and Fred for me."
I picked up Carrie and began walking up to the door.
"Woger!" She yelled, punching my shoulder, making me pause for a minute.
"At least someone wants me."
"Put on your shoes Carrie. We're going."
"What about Woger?"
"You'll see him again." I said, putting on my shoes as she ran up to him, hugging his legs.
"Carrie!" I yelled, my heart burning.
She put on her shoes and we left, and I will never, ever forget that day.

"I'm sorry Lucy."
"Please! This is the only place that would accept me and you're the only person I can talk to and Ro-"
"Lucy. You are fired. I'm sorry but you can't keep being this late." My boss said, firmly.
"Okay." I sighed, standing up and leaving the office.

I needed to find another job, fast.
