Chapter 20
Zhan's dilemma and the call of her Voice



Zhan blinks his eyes as he sees Yibo talking to his parents in a corner over drinks- Heng and Zu laughing with Guang Hu – Peng and Lang Hui giving each-other romantic looks which disgust him . Xena and Ji Li  are gossiping while Yika is standing in a corner.

Zhan clenches his fists and takes an aggressive step in Peng- Lang Hui's direction but he feels that somebody is watching him. He looks and it is a stern Yibo. He looks at Zhan pointedly and shakes his head – behind him Yika shows up and she also looks at Zhan with narrowed eyes and shakes her head. Zhan  takes his steps back.

Zhan ( frustrated )- Damn Yibo and what is wrong with Yika all of a sudden! They are seriously expecting me to let this engagement happen?

Just then, Zu comes and hangs in his neck along with Heng and Guang Hu who are quite drunk by the way but trying their best to look and sound sober.

Zu ( kissing Zhan )- My Zhan baby! Where were you, queen of hearts?

Heng ( pulling Zhan towards himself )- Shut up! He is my baby.

Guang Hu ( cutely )- Will you become my baby?

Zhan ( baffled )- What?

Just then, Zu feels something and she turns around. Through the main door , she sees the familiar tall , fair and good-looking man with the brilliant skin and brilliant grey eyes make way towards her with his two friends. A smile comes over her face and she goes to see him. As she walks towards him , Yibo's eyes follow her sharply. Xena also seems to be observing them even as she listens to Ji Li's blabbering that how she is perfect for Yibo. Zhan notices Yibo looking at Zu with a strange expression.

Zu ( smiles at Sammuel )- Aha, so you made it . I didn't think you would show up.

Sammuel ( looking at her from top to bottom )- Why not?

Zu ( teases him )- Well, I don't imagine somebody housing skeletons ,animal skins and venturing out in the night to save women the kind to grace social functions…

Sammuel (adjusting her earring that is stuck in her hair )- I will take that as a compliment ….you wouldn't insult me even if you tried.

Zu ( blinks at him )- And what makes you think that?

Sammuel ( winks at her )- I know that you like me.

Zu tries not to blush and puts her nose up in the air.

Zu ( carelessly )-Dream on….Come along , Sam. Let me introduce you to my parents.

Sam – Sure. I need to ask them who do you look like…..( spots her mother )… hmm.. maybe like Yu  aunty… Beautiful.

Zu – Who told you my mother's name?

Sam ( smiling at Zu but looking in Yibo's direction )- Let's say that I found out…..

Zu shakes her head and taking Sam's arm goes towards her parents who are talking to Heng's father and He Peng's parents. Sam winks at Yibo who looks angry enough to pounce on him. Xena presses Yibo's arm and calms him down.
