MYTHILI:
It's the weekend and we are in our home. We were supposed to go to charity event today. But cancelled our plan considering Kittu being still dull.
Door bell rang bringing me out of my thoughts. "I will take the door. You sit darling." Latha aunty said as she walked to the main door.
I am in the living room sitting on the couch while Kittu is on the carpeted floor, playing with Lego set, Arjun in his study finishing some paper work. Basically a lazy day but with a dull and sad kid.
"Hey champ!" My friends shouted coming into the living room. Everyone is here with their hands full of ballons, soft toys, cars what not. An excited smile formed on Kittu'u face seeing all the toys.
Arjun came out of his study hearing the commotion. "Guys? What are you doing here?" He asked surprised. "Aren't you guys supposed to attend the event?"
Rohan scoffed. "Ho come on. Who wants to attend that boring event when we have a super kid at home. Isn't that correct Krish?" He said turning to Kittu giving him a remote control toy car.
"Do you want to go to water world?" Maya asked picking up kittu and placing him on her hip. "Yes.! Can we go?" He asked excited and turned to me.
"Ho don't ask your mom. She won't stop us." Varsha said and then realised what she spoke. Everyone is shocked and didn't know how to react to that.
Clearing his throat Ajay came to kittu and shouted "yay!! Let's go to the water world then.." and changed the mood diverting kittu.
"Okay let's go and get ready kittu. Go and take out the dress you want to wear. I will come in a moment." I said to him.
Smiling he rushed to his room, that's next to our's.
"Sorry..! I didn't mean to offend! But it felt so right." Varsha said the moment kittu left. Arjun came to my side and placed a hand on my waist. "It's okay varsha."
"Thank you guys. For coming here. It's the biggest he smiled since so long." I said leaning into Arjun.
"No problem sunshine. We also have something to discuss. We will talk after returning " Abhinav said.
"Latha aunty, we need lot of snacks and water cooler..." Neetu said going into the kitchen to get snacks for us. We shook our head hearing her, always the food organiser.
"I will check on Kittu" I said and went to his room.
He is sitting on his bed deep in thought. This generation kids are way too intelligent for their age. What must be he thinking!
"What are you thinking?" I asked kneeling in front of him.
"Can I ask you something?" He said in a small voice. "Ofcourse sweety."
"Can I call you mom?" He asked stopping my breath. I was too shocked to respond.
ARJUN:
I went to Kittu's room, to see a shocked expression on Mythili's face while Kittu's is hopeful.
"What's happening here?" I asked crouching infront of him.
"Can I call you guys Dad and Mom please?" He asked shocking me.
When we didn't respond, he said "it's ok, if you guys don't like it. But please don't send me to orphanage" tears formed in his eyes.
"What!? No sweety. We love it. We are just shocked. You can call us mom and dad" Mythi said hugging him.
I patted his forehead and frowned remembering what he said. "Who told you, we will send you to the orphanage?" I asked.
"The kids in the school said, since I don't have mom and dad, I will be sent to orphanage." He said crying.
We joined him in a school and he started going there. Kids these days.! I sighed. They know everything and sometimes know way more than they should.
"No one will send you any where. You will be here with us. We are your parents. Understood?" Mythi asked sternly.
He nodded smiling.
"Come let's get you dressed while your mom gets ready." I said standing up. It felt different to call ourselves parents. Mythi gave a full blown smile. Kissing Kittu and me on the cheek she went to our room to get ready.
"What took you so long" Vaibhav asked seeing us come down.
"Kittu go and tell Boby and Vijay to get the car ready" Mythi said to him.
"Ok mom, come fast" he said "uncle boby, uncle Vijay" he shouted running out of the house.
Everyone is watching him with their mouths open.
"That's what happened" I said repeating what Kittu said. "Kids these days are too intelligent" Vaibhav said shaking his head.
"You should thank me guys." Varsha said. Everyone chuckled listening to her.
We all started to the water world in two SUVs with me, Arjun, Abhinav, Neetu, Shalini and Vaibhav in one , Vijay driving us.
While Rohan, Maya, Varsha, Ajay, Kittu driving in one, with Boby driving them. Kittu is adamant on travelling with Rohan and Varsha, so we sent Boby with them. If something happens Boby can take care of the danger, since we still don't know how the accident happened.
