Manik's POV:
As she smiled faintly at me, I stared at her face having the soup in my hand as I was making her drink it slowly.
The whole room was dipped in silence as none of us exchanged any words. Whatever happened, I needed the time to process all that and I think she too understands it because she didn't start the topic which I walked out of.
I again forwarded the spoon, and she silently opened her mouth to drink it. I keenly noticed her face as I was making her drink the soup. I sighed as I could see from her facial expression that she was feeling pain in her stomach. She is smiling faintly at me, and every time she's gulping the soup, her fingers automatically rub her tummy.
"Are you alright?" I asked her, keeping the soup bowl aside and she got startled.
"Uh... Y-yeah." She stammered, looking around.
"Tell me where's it hurting?" I softly asked, lifting her chin with my index finger to make her look at me. Although I had an idea where it must have been hurting her, I just asked it to confirm it while on the other hand, her eyes widened, listening to my words.
"How do you come to know that I'm not alright?" She asked me incredulously.
"I know you more than you know yourself, baby Girl. So tell me." These words automatically slipped out of my mouth as I kept staring at her. Her eyes softened, hearing the words as I could see the shine in them and happiness by hearing my mere love confession.
"Ahem," I coughed, breaking her trance. She got startled a bit while I raised my eyebrows asking her to answer me.
"My stomach is hurting. I can't sit." She whispered slowly, looking down at her lap.
"Why didn't you tell me before? Just lie down now." I chided her and helped her in lying down. She dug her nails into my arm.
"You were already upset, I just didn't want to m-," I shushed her, placing my finger on her lips.
"Never do this. Never hide your pain from me. Share everything with me." She nodded, staring deeply into my eyes.
I smiled but she moved a little up and murmured against my lips, "Never think you're worthless, as you have no idea how precious you are for me," before sucking my lips.
I gave her a small smile and kissed her forehead.
She placed her head on my chest and we both lay down, together.
She was fiddling with my shirt buttons, making me smile at her innocent gesture, but I'd be lying if I said my thoughts weren't drifting back to the doctor's words. Whenever I'm trying to close my eyes, her wounded and devastated state crosses my mind, which I have witnessed today. Seeing her lying unconscious on the floor with blood oozing out of her was still haunting me and reminding me again and again how miserably I failed to protect her.
