"I still can not believe you Adeline Bridget Dearbháil. I thought we were best friends." Kate complained.
"You are still on that?"
"Yes. I just can not believe that my own best friend kept such news from me." she said dramatically throwing herself onto my bed.
Kate had come back two weeks ago. She was still a little down but was returning to her old self. To say the least, she was not happy at the fact I had not told her about James.
On top of that when she returned she was faced with a one-week-long project for potions. The sole reason she did not go crazy on Slughorn was that she was paired with Remus. In the end, we all did pretty well especially Lily and myself.
While working on the project with Lily she would ask me questions regarding James. Like what did you see in him? Is he blackmailing you? Or the best one yet. Did he give you a love potion?
The next thing I knew James came into the library and answered her questions. I kindly assured her that I was under no love potion and to prove it I stood up and kissed James on the lips taking him by surprise.
"I always knew you would end up dating him you know." Kate said bringing my focus back. "Alexander was pretty upset when he found out but I think he has moved on. I honestly feel back for Marlene he will not stop following her around everywhere."
"I ran into her the other day in the library and she pleaded for help to hide from him." I recalled with a smile.
"Did you help her?"
"Of course I did I. I told her to hide behind a bookshelf and when he came inside I told him I saw her heading towards the quidditch pitch." I said trying to contain a laugh but lost it when Kate burst into laughter.
"I can see why he believed you. After all, she is on the Gryffindor team. I think it is very cute that a Slytherin is interested in a Gryffindor it helps break the stereotype." Kate thought with a small smile. "There is something distinctly odd."
"Which is?"
"The fact that ever since James and you have made it official Remus has spent his time away from both of you. For example yesterday during breakfast everything was fine with him until you two walked in and sat down. Not even a minute went by and Remus got up and left." Kate said recollecting the abnormal event.
"He has been acting a little out of the ordinary. But I just can not fathom why? I do not recall doing something wrong." I said while trying to remember if I did something to upset Remus.
"I think I may know why? But I am not sure."
"Are you going to tell me?" I asked Kate.
"No."
"Why not?" I complained.
"Well, the first reason is because you hid the news of James. Second I first need to investigate if my hunch is right. Lastly and most importantly and I simply can not stress this enough I do not want to." she said with a yawn before looking at the time. "Shit Addy we are going to be late again."
"Do you want me to wait for you?" I yelled as she ran into the bathroom to change.
"No go ahead and tell them I will be a little late." she yelled back and with this, I headed towards the courtyard.
As I skipped down the corridors I heard footsteps getting closer. Upon turning the corner I saw Slughorn heading my way with a book in hand.
"Hello, professor." I greeted him with a formal nod.
"Just the person I was looking for." Slughorn said nonchalantly as he shut the book.
"How may I be of service?"
