Why is she still here? Why does she still want to be with me? I don’t want to hurt her anymore.

I stood up and went to the table. I saw her face clearer and she looks so gloomy. Her eyes have also some traced of crying from last night. I just didn’t made comment about it.

“Ahh, y-you saw the message? W-we’re having family dinner later,” she stated.

I didn’t reply and just continue eating the soup because I’m still dizzy. “Thank you for this,” I expressed.

“A-are you coming?”

I looked at her. “I should, my mom will kill me. Soobin hyung’s also going?” I asked.

“Yeah, mom’s looking for him too.”

“Okay.”

I know. I know I’m getting colder to her but this is one of the ways I could think so that she’ll leave me. I want her to give up herself.

The both of us walk inside the restaurant and both of our parents are already in there, talking casually and laughing. I faked a smile and we greeted them as they noticed our arrival.

I pulled a chair for Aera and Soobin hyung isn’t here yet. They started asking about us and of course, we didn’t tell them about what’s really happening.

I am casually eating my food when her mom noticed something. “Oh my goodness, my Aera!” she exclaimed that made us all look at her.

“Hi! Sorry I’m a bit late!” Soobin hyung suddenly appeared. “W-what’s happening?” he asked and take a seat beside me.

“Why mom?” Aera asked in confusion.

“You have a ring! Oh my! Beomgyu you already proposed!?”

Time stops. My eyes widened and looked at Aera’s ring finger. I saw a thin-diamond design ring in it. I looked at her and she suddenly looks nervous.

“A-ahh this? Ahh well—“

“Son! You’re really getting married now? Aigoo! Feels like yesterday when you brought Aera to our house!” my mom expressed her feelings in shock too.

Soobin hyung come closer to me to whisper, “Hey, did you really propose?”

I just shook my head in little and dropped my utensils to drink water. Aera glanced at me with worriedness in her face. I smiled as I put the glass back on the table.

“Can Aera and I talk for a second?” I asked, smiling.

“Of course!”

I grip her wrist and we went away from the table. “What the hell was that?” I taunt.

“I d-didn’t know my mom will think it that way,” she answered.

I scoff, “Or did you really plan it? So I can’t break up with you?” I asked.

“No! No, it wasn’t like that. P-please believe me! This is just supposed to be an accessory!” she defended.

“I’m going to tell them the truth about us and don’t you dare stop me. Aera, please, let’s just end this already,” I stated and turned back at her.

Then I heard a low thud sound and when I looked back she’s kneeling on the floor. Head bows down and she’s fidgeting her fingers. I looked away in frustration.

“D-don’t please.”

“Stand up,” I ordered.

She looked at me with teary eyes. “D-don’t leave me, please,” she pleaded.

“And what? Play dumb? Act like everything’s fine? Aera I don’t want to hurt you anymore—“

“You still love me, right? Please. Thing about all those memories we created together. A-are you just going to throw it away just because of him?”

“Don’t bring him up here,” I warned her. “Stand up and let’s tell them the truth.”

“No,” she refused. “I won’t. He doesn’t love you, Gyu and he will never love you. Why can’t you see that? Are still hoping? He’s not going to get back—“

“Shut up!” I yelled. “If you don’t want to stand there then I don’t care. I’ll tell them myself,” I stated and walk a few steps when I heard something breaks.

The vase from the other table was on the floor and she’s holding a piece of it in her hands. I can see her blood coming out from there and the piece of glass is pointed at her neck.

“I can kill myself for you Choi Beomgyu. If you really want to be with him then should I just die?”

“Choi Aera, are you crazy!?”

“Yes! Yes I am!” she yelled and tears escaped from her eyes. “Y-you promised to stay with me. You courted me and w-waited for me. You said we’re going to get m-married. You told me we’re going to have k-kids. Then what the hell are you doing!?”

Blood keeps dripping from her wounded hands running through her elbows. She’s shaking in anger while looking at me with her longing eyes.

“Why don’t you just stay?”

I pulled the handkerchief displayed in the nearest empty table and went to her. She sobs lowly as I take away the glass from her hand and throw it away. I wrapped the fabric around her bleeding palm and hugged her.

“I’m sorry for couldn’t be able to fulfill those promises to you. You made my life better. You’re one of the most amazing people I met. I loved you so much and thank you for loving me back wholeheartedly,” I whispered and a tear escaped from my eyes.

“T-then why can’t we continue like that?”

“I’m so sorry. You deserve someone better and I don’t want to be that better just to be someone you deserve. Because if I really wanted to fix this, I should have done it already.”

“I can risk everything for you. I can take all the pain and humiliation for you. I can be a better person for you but I never knew you’re going to choose what you think is the better option for you. Clearly not thinking that it’s the worst for me.”

I hold a breath in before letting it out. “That’s why this won’t work anymore no matter how we fix it. My heart is not beating for you anymore. So please, j-just give up.”

“N-no,” she sobs. “I can’t. Please, p-please don’t. I need you,” she cried.

“I’m sorry but staying with me is hurtful than leaving me. So please, let’s just end this.”
