Chapter 49 Akito is a woman?

                                    

                                          
Unlike the others, my curse... has broken. It happened years ago. I was slightly younger than you. And since then, i havent been truly one of them. Now... 
Akito: you're so lucky. Really, i'm jealous.
Now... i can't fly. Kureno said making star's pupils shrink as she gasped. She pushed out of kureno's embrace looking up at him she then tugged on his sleeves. How'd the curse break? Star asked in a desprate manner. I don't know. It was there, and then it just wasn't. Without any warning the bond was severed. It was like my field of vision opened up. Inside myself, there was only me. No other presence. The sky looked so blue. When i thought about how i'd never fly in that sky again, it made me sad. But at the same time, i felt like i was finally... human. Kureno pushed star back softly as she continued to stare at him. And i was happy. Kureno said. But... the other zodiac members, they don't know. They still think that you're the rooster. Kureno looked away from star's gaze. If it broke, why do you stay with akito? I mean, there must be a reason. Kureno then turned around pulling something out of his coat. Something that binds you even though you're not a zodiac member. Star said as she grew frustrated but blinked when kureno held the cd to her play in front of her. Here. i thought you should have this back. It's wasted on me. Sorry. That's all i came to tell you. Kureno said as he held it infront of star. Star wanted to smack it out of his hand and shout at him. She wanted more answers but she held herself back. She grabbed the cd from kureno's hand. I won't see her again. I'll stay where i belong. With akito. We met twice, arisa and i. It's not as if we have some long history. Just... two trivial, insignificant meetings. If i never see her again, they'll become trivial, insignificant memories. Before they fade entirely. I doubt it'll take long. Star just stared at kureno not saying a word. So you don't have to worry. It's fine. Kureno said as he stared at the sky. Star went up to kureno then touched his cheek turning his head towards her. His eyes had tears in them. He gasped at her touched. Star had tears in her eyes as she didn't say anything just staring into kureno's eyes. He stared at her wide eyed as he remembered what uotani asked him.
Uotani: if that's true, why is your smile so sad? A trivial errand? Then i guess that's all this is, too, isn't it? When i ran into you before and you said we should get lunch together... 
It-it just... it made me feel really happy! Okay? Come and see me, dammit! 
I want to see her! I do! So badly. We only met twice, but... even so, it was the first time i fell in love since the curse broke and i became truly human. I could embrace her. Hold her in my arms. A touch that's only possible because i'm no longer possessed. The other zodiac members aren't so lucky– still tormented by the curse i was freed from effortlessly. Kureno swiped his arm making star step back a little. Me. i'm the only one. I can go where i want. Love whom i choose. But... that's exactly the reason. The reason i have to stay. To remain by akito's side forever. 
Flash back to when his curse broke
Akito wails making kureno gasp. 
Akito. Kureno said but akito continued to cry. 
Akito, calm down. Kureno said going up to akito. 
What did you do? What's the matter, akito? The head maid ask coming over to them but akito didn't want her close. 
Stay away! Nobody come near me until say so! Akito said grabbing kureno's wrist and bringing him to his room. 
Akit– kureno said to try to stop akito. 
I'll kill anybody who tries! I will, i swear! Akito shouted then closed the door. Leaving the maid in fear. 
Akito? Kureno called. 
Why? Why? Why? Why? Why did it have to break? Why? It's our bond. Akito asked out loud. 
I don't know. It just happened out of nowhere. Kureno said as he looked at his hands. 
Out of nowhere? Akito asked. I don't understand. 
One second, it was there, and then– akito turned around while kureno was explaining with a crazyed look in his eyes. 
What's that look in your eyes? It changed when– no. akito said as he stared at kureno. Akito. Kureno said.
Your eyes. They're so distant. But why? Why now? Why did this happen? Akito walked up to kureno slowly then grabbed a hold of his blazzer making them both fall on a tapestry. 
No! Don't go! Don't go! Don't go! Don't go! Swear you won't go anywhere! You can't leave me! Stay by my side! No matter what! Swear you'll stay by my side forever! Don't leave me behind! Swear it. Swear it! Swear that you won't abandon me! Kureno. Please. Please! I'm begging you, kureno. Don't go! Akito said as he cried letting go of kureno. Kureno stared at akito as tears fell from his eyes.
Kureno: i couldn't do it. I couldn't leave. 
End of flash back
To akito, the zodiac members' bonds are everything. The truth is, without us, the god can't exist. So the day my curse broke, i made a promise. I swore not to leave not matter what.
Back to flash back
No matter what, i'll always be by your side. I swear it. Okay? Kureno said as akito broke away from the hug then touched his face. 
Kureno: really... i would've said anything to make those tears stop. 
End of flashback
I knew that it meant deceiving the others and pretending i was still the rooster.  But if it would ease that child's pain, it was a price i was willing to pay. Kureno said as he remembered akito smiling when he promised that. 
Shigure: so it was pity? I mean, the curse was already broken, so your bond would've been severed, too. Leaving may have been better for everyone involved, including akito. And you know, it's not too late. 
 i made a promise. I can't leave! It's true that the curse is broken, and the bond i felt back then disappeared with it. Star held the cd as she was hunched over with tears in her eyes. When we embrace, it may be out of pity on my part, but i swore to stay. Over and over. And so i will. Until the day akito no longer needs me, i'll be there... always. I decided i would live for that child, whose tiny body was racked with sobs. Weaker than anyone. More fragil than anyone. I would give anything... for that child. For the sake of that sad, broken... little girl. Kureno said not looking at star. Star's eyes widen as she stood up straight staring at kureno. You... said "girl." you mean akito... when kureno didn't say anything she held her hand up to her mouth as she gasped. 
Star: akito is a woman?
