For the next few days, everything had been turned upside down for Beca. She was getting messages from old college friends, who congratulated her at first and then started to ask her about her sexuality. It was a difficult question, obviously, but her contract meant she could only give one answer.

Sophie: So when were you going to tell me you're not a lesbian

Beca: I don't think I ever was. Probably just a phase or something.

Every single part of her body cringed when she had to give that response. It was like who she really was was being torn apart and put back together, but without the instructions.

The only thing the story made better, was Rachel's mood. Each morning she would come buzzing out of her office with a new headline or a new date idea for them to be captured on. Rachel being happy meant that she didn't pick on Beca as much, which made work a lot more enjoyable for her. Rachel had even let them have a few days off over the week meaning Beca could focus on her college work and have time to catch up with her friends.

The only person she really wanted to talk to was her mom. They had daily calls but for the past week, something had always came up which meant one of them couldn't make it. But finally, they were both free and could talk to each other.

Beca sat at the table in her apartment, waiting for a FaceTime call to come through and just as she was about to message her, Lucy's name appeared on the screen.

"Hey, mom. I've missed you this week. How've you been?" Beca asked, beaming to see her mother.

"Well, I've been confused for one thing. Tell me how I answer people when they say to me 'I thought your daughter was gay' when I also thought she was too. What is going on?"

"Just calm down and let me explain. First of all, I am still a lesbian. We aren't really together. Rachel made us sign a contract saying we would fake a relationship for around six months to get some publicity. I've just got to tell people I was going through a phase or something."

"You've got to be fucking kidding me?! I can't believe you signed that contract Beca Mitchell. How dare you! It's a stupid idea and I will get the next plane out to L.A. to give that Rachel bitch a piece of my mind if I have to!" Lucy raged, while pacing back and forth in her classroom. Luckily, the school day was over because the children would have learnt a lot more than how to read that day.

"What happened to calming down? I agreed to it. It's six months. I'll get my money and come straight back out the closet. I can't give this job up for any reason and you know that."

"I've wanted you to quit that job since you told me about that bitch Rachel and you know that. Don't do anything you don't want to do. I just don't want you to lose yourself."

"Mom, listen. I can do six months. I've got to go, but I'll speak to you soon. I love you."

"I love you too."

...

Emily sat in her apartment, staring out the window. Chloe and Emily's apartment wasn't right in the centre of the city, but there was still the usual morning and evening traffic of everyone going to and from work. She watched all the cars pass, waiting for an all important phone call.

They both auditioned for the same role of a girl who had lost her dad and after that her life pretty much went to shit. Emily wasn't one hundred percent sure that she wanted it, but at this point a job is a job for her. She had been to plenty of auditions and had only gotten roles in small college plays, student films and short films that never got her much money. In comparison to Chloe, Emily felt like she hadn't done anything and was already considering giving up, maybe becoming a drama teacher or something after college.
