(Brittany's POV)

(One month later...)

"Babe come on, please...do it for me?" I beg Jax to get up out of bed for his physio therapy. "I can't Britt, it hurts too much." he whimpers out in pain. "You need to okay? Dr Torres said that you are doing really well and if you can just show her these few basic things we will be able to get you home." I plead with Jax. He was unconscious for around two weeks after his surgery. Then he woke up suddenly out of the blue. I was so nervous, he didn't move or speak for minutes, I was convinced that he was no longer able to talk or move. The doctors all rushed into the room and took him away instantly for scans and tests. Those few days waiting for the results were far worse than the two weeks we waited for him to wake up. But in all honesty, his results were a relief. His speech was only affected slightly, so he is currently in speech therapy to just fine tune some things. But his mobility was far more greatly affected. But Callie reassured us with some intense physio therapy, he could regain full mobility again. But it wasn't going to be an easy road.

Santana ordered Jax to be up and out of bed just 48hrs after he woke up. He cried out in so much pain, it was awful to watch. I felt like I was torturing him, making him do it. But it was for his own good. Apparently it's a common thing when someone has had brain surgery to make them get up and walk about.

Jess, his sister has stuck around. Commuting from DC to Miami over the past month. I still don't know what the history or story is behind that but I have felt there hasn't been an appropriate time to bring it up.

"This is bullshit Brittany. I want to go home!!!" Jax cries out as Callie tries to help him up out of bed to do his exercises. "It might be bullshit buddy, but you got to do it." Jess tells her brother. "Fuck...you....what are you even still doing here?" Jax says through clenched teeth as the pain is soaring through his body. "I am here to help" Jess says, helping me to hold him steady. "I don't want your fucking help!" he screams out, almost losing his balance. "Right, Jess, Brittany out." Callie orders. "I don't know what stuff you have all got going on. But right now my priority is getting my patient better. And clearly having you two in the room is not helping. So leave." I feel like I have been scolded by the teacher as Jess and I leave the room with our tails between our legs.

(Santana's POV)

"When do we hear the verdict from the lawyers?" My father asks me as we are sat eating our lunch together on the beach front in the garden of my parents house. "Today at some point." I say, pushing food around my plate, I haven't had an appetite for some time, from when Brittany told me she hated me in fact. She blames me for what Jax is going through. But quite frankly, he is one lucky son of a bitch to come away with the limited damage he did. But there is no reasoning with her. She convinced Jax to try and sue the hospital for damages. So for the last month we have had lawyers coming in and out, wanting minute by minute narratives of what went on, statements, scans, evidence and timelines. Everyone has been dragged through it and today is the day we get the yes or no as to whether we will be taken to court.

"I just can't believe she is putting us through this Mija" my father scoffs, taking a large sip of red wine. "She has every right to I guess." I say shrugging my shoulders. "It's all bullshit and you know it! She knows it." My father is growing more and more angry by the second. He looks like he has aged about five years in the space of a month. He has been getting tremendous heat from the Fox foundation over all of this. I feel like I have lost confidence in myself and my judgement as a surgeon, is this what hitting rock bottom feels like?

"Frittata? My mother brings out a freshly cooked spinach and mushroom frittata, but I decline. "Mija, you need to eat!" My mother says cutting me a slice and putting it on my plate anyway. "Seriously Mami, I am fine. I am just not hungry." I say pushing my plate away. "Hey guys sorry I am late!" Grace finally turns up, her and the kids are the only thing that bring me any joy these days, so seeing her gliding across the lawn instantly lifts my spirits. "Hey babe." I crane my head back to give Grace a sweet kiss before she hugs and greets my parents. "Don't you worry, you are here now! Please help yourself." My mom starts pushing the plates of food towards Grace to help herself. She piles her plate high, she says one of her favourite things in the world is my mama's cooking. So obviously she was in Maribel's good books right away. Just like second nature, Grace takes my hand in her lap and lays stroke after stroke with her thumb, I instantly relax.
